Rally Club pays tribute to Jamal Brathwaite

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has paid tribute to Jamal Brathwaite, a long-standing competitor and member of its Committee of Management for more than a decade, who was involved in a fatal road accident in the United States in the early hours of Saturday. BRC Chairman Neil Corbin said: "The motorsport community has lost a great man."

Mayers leads Rally Club Championship into final round

Roger Mayers heads into this month's final round of the 2023 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Driver’s and Class Championships leading the Champion Driver title chase, with a 100 per cent record of class wins in SuperModified 2. His total of 105 points gives him a four-point cushion over former two-time Champion Neil Corbin, with Ian Warren just one further point behind.

E-Sports Champion early leader in R5 title race

Reigning Champion Mark-Anthony Hinkson is the early leader of the second season of the E-Sports R5 Rally Championship, presented by First Citizens. Nearly 60 competitors from Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and the UK have registered for the competition, which is administered by Caribbean Sim Motorsport, a Member Club of the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF).

Caterham Champion leads charge to the Caribbean

British Caterham Champion, 20-year-old Lewis Thompson, will lead an invasion of more than 40 drivers from the British sports car manufacturer’s circuit racing series for the Caterham Caribbean Cup at Bushy Park Barbados next month. The biggest-ever single shipment of race cars to the island will leave the UK south coast port of Southampton later this month, arriving at the Bridgetown Port in mid-November.

Maloney, Thompson and Ullyett fight for BKA title

Reigning Champion Driver Calem Maloney claimed a maximum 100 points for the third time this season at Sunday’s (October 1) Barbados Karting Association (BKA) Glassesco Raceday at Bushy Park Barbados. In doing so, he drew level with Blake Thompson who has slipped to second after leading since round three, as former double Champion Daniel Ullyett became the fourth different leader of the Sectus Technologies Championship this year. Just 14 points are spread across the three, with the final round on November 5.

Promotion for Rally Barbados 2024 revs up

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) begins rolling out its promotional campaign for Rally Barbados 2024 over the coming weeks with support from Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI). One clubman entrant in the Beatson’s Building Supplies Mull Rally will win a trip to the Caribbean next year, while members of the RB24 organising team are heading to Scotland, Sardinia and South America to promote the event and Motorsport Island.

All to play for as BKA season approaches climax

September Safari winner praises “Savvy” route-setters

Winner of last Sunday’s (September 17) Savvy on the Bay September Safari, Leslie Alleyne, was full of praise for the route-setters - and the opposition - after crews met for the Prizegiving on Tuesday evening. Alleyne and navigator Chris O’Neal clocked up their third win in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2023 Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship after coming from behind in a tight contest fought out across all but one of the island’s parishes.

Islandwide route for Savvy on the Bay September Safari

Crews competing in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship will need to bring their ‘A Game’ when they return to action this Sunday (September 17) after the three-month summer break. The Savvy on the Bay September Safari will visit all but one of the island’s parishes before concluding with three spectacular Driver Challenges at the Vaucluse Raceway in St Thomas.

Panton wins Sun & Stars to lead R5 Rally Championship

Jamaica’s Jeff Panton is the new leader of the R5 Rally Championship presented by First Citizens after winning round seven, the Rally of the Sun & Stars on Saturday (September 9). With reigning champion and points-leader Stuart Maloney in action only as co-driver to his brother Mark after his own car had been sold days before the event, Panton turned a seven-point deficit in to a 13-point lead in the Barbados Motoring Federation’s (BMF) flagship national championship with three rounds to go.
