LINTON AND WARREN DOWN TO THE WIRE

With one round remaining, just five points separate former Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Champion Adrian Linton and Ian Warren, who have been locked in battle for the Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s Championship since the opening round in March. Sixty drivers have competed so far and, while many Groups are already settled, the battle for the Overall Champion’s crown is going down to the wire.

EXPERIENCE PAYS ON SAFARI

Leslie and Annalee Alleyne consolidated their position as leaders of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Safari Championship with victory in the third of this season’s four rounds last Sunday (August 27). Twenty-nine of the 32 crews that started the BRC August Safari reached the finish on terrain that was considerably less muddy than had been anticipated following the heavy rains of the previous week.

RAIN ADDS TO OFF-ROAD CHALLENGE

The recent heavy rains will add to the challenge faced by competitors in the Barbados Rally Club's (BRC) August Safari, slated to start from Simpson Motors, Warrens at 9.00am on Sunday (August 27); 30 crews have so far entered, with more expected before the Thursday 5.00pm deadline.

ALLEYNE FAMILY LEAD BRC SAFARI CHAMPIONSHIP

The experienced husband and wife crew of Leslie and Annalee Alleyne lead the 2006 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Safari Championship at the half-way stage; in what is proving to be a highly-competitive season, just a handful of points cover the leading crews - two events remain, the next challenge to be faced being the BRC August Safari at the end of this month.

NO PRESSURE FOR BOURNE

With some determined driving on home ground, Paul Bourne set the fastest time in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint at Cliff in St John on Saturday evening (July 29) . . . but it was not all plain sailing.
While the remaining 28 competitors were tackling a practice run shortly after nightfall, Bourne’s crew members were working to discover why the Warrens Motors/Plus Subaru Impreza WRC had lost fuel pressure; a solution was found after half an hour or so, just in time for the first of three official timed runs.

BOURNE LOOKING FOR SUCCESS IN ‘HOME’ EVENT

Paul Bourne in the Warrens Motors/Plus Subaru Impreza WRC heads the entry list for the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint, to be contested on Saturday evening (July 29) at Cliff in St John . . . a speed event happening literally on his doorstep.
Eight Group winners from last month’s Rally Barbados 2006 are also listed among more than 20 entries received by mid-day Thursday; with entries not closing until that evening, and a late entry facility open until 5.00pm Friday, organisers were confident of a good turn-out.

LINTON LEADING CHARGE TO TITLE

Former Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Champion Adrian Linton is on top once again, leading the Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s Championship with five of the eight rounds completed. With more than 50 drivers so far having scored points, just eight points cover the four drivers at the head of the table – and all campaigning two-wheel-drive cars.

ALLEYNE FAMILY TRIUMPH IN TOYOTA BRC JUNE SAFARI

The island's oldest organised motor sport event proved to be one of the toughest of recent times, with more than half the 27 starters failing to make it to the end of last weekend’s (June 10/11) Toyota Barbados Rally Club (BRC) June Safari. After nearly 20 hours of competition, just 13 crews reached the finish at the Vaucluse Raceway in St Thomas.

LINTON FAMILY ELATED WITH VICTORY

“Phenomenal doesn't quite cut it, but its close enough!” So said an elated Adrian Linton on Sunday (April 9) after claiming his first-ever overall victory in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Carnival Warm-up Tarmac Rally, second round of the Texaco BRC Rally Championship, which Linton now leads.

Slated for a 9.00am start from McEnearney Quality Inc’s premises in Wildey on Sunday (April 9), the event is the second round of the Texaco BRC Rally Championship.
