RALLY DRIVERS PRAISE BMF SAFETY TRAINING

Leading rally drivers were today (Friday) vocal in their praise and support for mandatory training sessions staged this week by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF), the governing body of motor sport in the island. Approaching 60 competitors attended the two-part course, staged on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (August 19 & 21) at the Sir Garfield Sobers Gymnasium in Wildey.

LIME AND BANKS SUPPORT BRC SUMMER STAGES

Competitors in the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Driver’s and Class Championships begin the final stage of the 2014 season on Saturday, August 30, in the BRC Summer Nights Tarmac Stages, in association with LIME and Banks Beer. Organisers expect a good turn-out, with only three more counting events before year-end, and with an enhanced points system in use for this one event.

As competitors from across all the motor sport disciplines prepare to embark on the second half of the island's 2014 domestic season, with at least one event every weekend between now and the end of November, the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) this week continues its ground-breaking operational and safety training programme.

Honours shared at Digicel Williams International

Host nation Barbados shared the honours with Guyana and Jamaica at the opening round of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) 2014/15 at the weekend (July 5/6). Guyana's Kristian Jeffrey claimed a clean sweep in the three CMRC Group 4 races and Jamaica's Kyle Gregg won two Group 2 encounters, but it was Barbados leading the Country Championship standings at close of play.

Region's best test for Digicel Williams International

Reigning Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Champion Doug Gore is urging island fans to head for Bushy Park Circuit in St Philip tomorrow (Saturday) for what he predicts will be some "serious, serious racing", as the 2014/15 season kicks off with the first of three CMRC races slated for the end of the day's packed programme.

ALLEYNE LEVELS WITH CLARKE ON SIX 'JUNE' WINS

Victory in the Sol Go Even Further June Safari last weekend (June 28/29) has propelled Leslie Alleyne back to the top of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Roll of Honour for its oldest event, run for the 58th consecutive year. He joins Wayne Clarke on six wins, two more than anyone else on the 69-strong list of previous winners.
