SUPERB ENTRY FOR 2005 TEXACO FINALE

A last-minute rush of entries has set up a superb finale to the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) new-for-2005 Texaco BRC Rally Championship . . . thirty-six drivers were listed when entries closed, offering fans the prospect of a very special – and unusual - day of motor sport at Bushy Park in St Philip.
BRC championship regulars like Trevor Manning, Roger Mayers and Roger Skeete will be able to gauge their performance against the Barbados Auto Racing League’s (BARL) top drivers, including current lap record holder Mark Maloney and multiple champion Stuart Williams. Adding to the unusual mix, Skeete will be driving Maloney’s Nissan Pulsar GtiR in the absence of his regular mount.
On top of that, there’s more than one prize on offer for spectators - everyone can join in a free-for-all prize draw that will win passenger rides around the circuit once the competition is done, and there are Texaco giveaways, too. Sunday also presents one of the last chances for fans to buy tickets for the BRC’s first-ever Spectator Prize Draw, with a fully-loaded Ford Focus valued at more than $50,000 up for grabs. The joint venture between the BRC, McEnearney Quality Inc, and Aqua Pur water, represented by Atlantic Marketing, is just weeks away from the draw . . . at the BRC's Annual Prize-giving, slated for November 26.
Action is slated to start at 9.00am, with a total of eight runs using the racetrack in a number of different configurations; although co-drivers will not be required, the event will be timed in the same way as a rally, with the cumulative times across all eight runs producing the end result.
The guest drivers from BARL will not be able to deprive registered BRC championship contenders of points in the Texaco championship, but could certainly challenge for the fastest time of the day.
