National Circuit plays host to Bushy Park racing return

The first Race Meet at Bushy Park Barbados since the start of the coronavirus pandemic five months ago will run on the National Circuit on Sunday, August 30, organised by Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI). With a sub 40-second lap record and the northern start-line in front of the Clubhouse in use, the traditional 1.28-kilometre layout promotes close racing, so fans are promised a thrilling day’s sport.

Motor sport fans across the island are promised a bumper weekend of action when closed road events return for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March. The non-championship Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Test Stage in St Peter on Saturday, August 22, will be followed on the Sunday by the Motoring Club of Barbados Inc’s (MCBI) ‘Hammer Time 20’ in St John, shared for the first championship points of the season by members of both clubs.

Crews happy to be back in action after long wait

Competitors in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship finally headed back off-road at the weekend (July 25/26) after a nine-month wait . . . and a new name was added to the Roll of Honour of the Club’s longest-running event, fondly known as ‘The June’. Although the coronavirus pandemic pushed it back into July, the Shelbury Construction Summer Safari still represented the 64th running of the Club’s founding event.

After a nine-month break, the longest since the navigational series started in 2004, crews contesting the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship are preparing for competition once again. And, with a weather system bearing down on the island, this weekend’s (July 25/26) Shelbury Construction Summer Safari (‘The June’) looks set to remind everyone just what they have been missing.

Radical Caribbean Cup headlines revised Bushy Park calendar

The remaining rounds of the 2020 Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC) are almost certain to be staged at Bushy Park Barbados, as the uncertainties created by the coronavirus pandemic have rendered travel to other host countries in the region unworkable. News of this comes with the publication of a provisional calendar for the rest of 2020 at the St Philip facility.

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has announced revised dates for its premier event, Sol Rally Barbados 2020, which was postponed following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in March. Sol RB20 is now planned for Saturday and Sunday, October 31/November 1, with Flow King of the Hill the previous Sunday, October 25. The announcement comes as competitive motor sport in the island reopens this weekend, with grass roots disciplines the first to return under strict Covid-19 protocols.

Bushy Park comes alive as motor sport restarts

After three months of inactivity during the coronavirus Lockdown, Bushy Park Barbados has burst back into life . . . at least as far as the essential Covid-19 safety protocols will allow. Frustrated competitors from across the disciplines headed for St Philip over the past two Sundays (June 28 & July 5), as Bushy Park Circuit Inc (BPCI) organised Track Days for karts, race cars and rally cars.

FIA provides PPE to support restart of island motor sport

The Covid-19 safety protocols for this month’s restart of motor sport in the island have been reinforced by a shipment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from the world governing body, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). Following Track Days at Bushy Park Barbados over the past two Sundays, competition proper starts again next Saturday (July 18) at the same venue with the second round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Autocross Championship.

BMF confirms staged restart of motor sport behind closed doors

The Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) today (Wednesday) confirmed that the green light has been given to restart motor sport, which has been on hold since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. With guidance from the BMF, the island’s seven clubs are drawing up plans for a staged return to competition next month, while Bushy Park Circuit Inc (BPCI) has announced a Track Day at the St Philip facility this Sunday (June 28).

Gonsalves wins thrilling RallyE-Barbados 2020

Jeremy Gonsalves completed a remarkable hat-trick of Esports rally victories last weekend (May 29-31), beating an international field by 15 seconds in the inaugural RallyE-Barbados, hosted by the on-line rally group, Carib Rally Club (CRC), on Codemasters’ Dirt Rally 2.0 game. Gonsalves had already triumphed in the previous weekend’s King of thE Hill and one of CRC’s first events, Rally Trinidad 2020.
