  The Barbados Rally Club, organisers of the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International, Sol Rally Barbados (June 1/2) and next Sunday’s Scotiabank King of the Hill, today heaped praise on all concerned within the island’s Bridgetown Port for the expeditious manner in which nearly 30 International rally cars were un-loaded and cleared on Friday (May 17).

CLASS POINTS VITAL IN SOL RALLY BARBADOS

  Sol Rally Barbados (June 1/2) and Scotiabank King of the Hill (May 26) offer local competitors in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Virgin Atlantic-sponsored Drivers’ and Class Championships three of out 10 chances for the year to score points. So, there are competitors fighting for vital points throughout the 98-car field.   The 2012 Drivers’ Championship ended with an unprecedented four drivers tied on equal points, eventual Champion Neil Corbin (Modified 6 Toyota Starlet) winning after a tie-break mechanism had been completed.

BIRD RETURNS TO DEFEND SOL RALLY BARBADOS TITLE

  Former UK National Rally Champion Paul Bird will face the largest field of World Rally Cars ever assembled in the Caribbean when he returns to the region to defend his title in Sol Rally Barbados 2013 (June 1/2). Thirteen cars, up from the previous record of 11, are entered in the WRC classes on the provisional entry list of 98 crews, revealed by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) during a media conference today (Monday).

CARIBBEAN FRUIT EXCHANGED FOR RALLY CARS IN UK

  The Geest Line freighter Agulhas Stream sailed from Portsmouth on the English south coast yesterday (Tuesday, May 7) after two nights in port exchanging bananas and other produce from around the Caribbean for a shipment of 27 rally cars bound for the region’s biggest annual motor sport International, Sol Rally Barbados.
