QUALITY IN DEPTH FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2014

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) will celebrate the 25th running of its premier event in fine style, with the largest field of World Rally Cars ever assembled in the Caribbean. The provisional entry list of 93 crews for Sol Rally Barbados 2014 (May 30-June 1) was confirmed today (Thursday) during a media briefing at the Accra Beach Hotel & Spa in Rockley, on the island’s south coast.

CARS ON THE WATER FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

The Geest Line freighter Agulhas Stream set sail from Portsmouth on the English south coast this morning (Tuesday, May 6) after two nights in port exchanging fruit and other produce from around the Caribbean for a shipment of rally cars bound for the region’s biggest annual motor sport International, Sol Rally Barbados.

IRISH MARSHALS HEAD FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Two volunteers who marshalled at last month’s Discover Northern Ireland Circuit of Ireland Rally will shortly be jetting off to Sol Rally Barbados 2014 for a once-in-a-lifetime two-week trip, courtesy of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) and the island's private sector Tourism Development Corporation; the prize includes return flights from London Gatwick on Virgin Atlantic Airways, accommodation and shared rental car for the duration.

SOL RALLY BARBADOS 4WD ENTRY REACHES 20

The return to Sol Rally Barbados of two repeat UK competitors confirmed today by the organising Barbados Rally Club (BRC) brings to 20 the four-wheel-drive entry, with more than half in the WRC classes. Both entered in Group A Mitsubishi Lancer Evos, Northern Ireland’s Joe McQuillan, aka ‘The Big Man’, is back for the third consecutive year, while Rupert ‘Ru’ Lomax returns from Wales to compete for the first time since 2005.

HISTORIC ESCORT FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Former British Historic Rally Championship class-winners Chris Shooter and Bev LeGood will make their Caribbean debut on Sol Rally Barbados 2014, bringing to 21 the number of International crews so far confirmed for this year’s event. With less than two weeks to go before the closing date, more than one-third of the entries received on the official web site – www.rallybarbados.net – are from the wider Caribbean or further afield.

SKEETE AND MALONEY WIN VALVOLINE RALLY

Roger Skeete maintained this season’s winning form when he drove the Sol/LIME/Simpson Motors/Michelin/Williams Trading Inc Subaru Impreza WRC S12 to victory in Sunday’s (April 13) Valvoline Rally, the first special stage rally of 2014. With Stuart Maloney as co-driver, Skeete’s winning margin was 27.77 seconds.
