Busy season of motor sport ahead for Barbados

Nearly 50 events to be organised by the seven sporting Member Clubs of the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) are listed on the BMF’s Approved 2016 Calendar, published today (February 11). The first two have already been run, with the remaining dates stretching until the last weekend of November.

  A broad cross-section of motor sport disciplines is covered, from grass-roots autocross through circuit racing for cars, karts and motorcycles and drag racing to off-road 4x4 navigational events, rallycross, rallysprints, special stage rallies and speed events.

Radical visitors give ‘thumbs up’ to Bushy Park Barbados

Bushy Park Barbados earned high praise from racing drivers from Britain, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States who travelled to the island last month for the inaugural Radical International, which hosted the first two rounds of the Suzuki Challenge Series Winter Cup. They not only gave the ‘thumbs up’ to the facility, but also to the island and the warm and enthusiastic welcome they received.

FRIENDS REUNITED ON SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2016

Four British friends who last rallied together on one of the world’s toughest events almost a decade ago will be reunited in competition for the first time since then on Sol Rally Barbados 2016. They are among more than 50 overseas entries so far posted on the official web site – www.rallybarbados.net - for the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International, which will run from Friday to Sunday, June 3 to 5.

REPEAT VISITORS PREPARE FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

With three months to go before their cars are due to be shipped from Portsmouth, rally teams across the United Kingdom are making preparations for their annual trip to the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International, Sol Rally Barbados 2016. Among more than 30 repeat visitors already entered, drivers Kenny Hall, Joe McQuillan and Simon Wallis and their co-drivers will have notched up more than 50 visits between them when they arrive this year.

Esuf and Ming shake up Suzuki Challenge Series

Records tumbled at Bushy Park Barbados over the weekend (January 23/24) as newcomers Suleman Esuf and Guyana’s Calvin Ming shook up the established order in the Suzuki Challenge Series SR3 Cup. Drivers from the UK, United States, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago joined the Barbadian regulars for the inaugural Radical International, as the three-round Winter Cup got under way with an action-packed two-day double-header.

Suzuki Challenge Series returns this weekend

Suzuki Challenge Summer Series winners Sean Maloney (SR3 Cup) and Jamaica’s David Summerbell Jnr (Swift Cup) head for Bushy Park Barbados this weekend (January 23/24) determined to continue where they left off in October. Radical International 2016 plays host to the first two rounds of the Winter Cup, in which each Champion will face renewed challenges.

Youth and experience expands grid for Radical SR3 Cup

An expanded grid of Suzuki-powered Radical SR3 RS sports racers will contest the first two rounds of the Suzuki Challenge Series Winter Cup during Radical International at Bushy Park Barbados this weekend (January 23/24). Newcomers from the wider Caribbean and further afield have arrived in the island to take on the established racers in the SR3 Cup, which offers the fastest racing in the region.

BRITISH CREW SEEKING FUN AT SOL RALLY BARBADOS

British couple Marcel Freling and Karen Robinson are seeking to revive the “fun factor” in their rallying by competing in Sol Rally Barbados 2016. The multiple award-winners in the hotly-contested British Trial & Rally Drivers Association (BTRDA) Championship over the past 12 years are among more than 10 first-time overseas crews who have entered the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event.

Radical International launches new Bushy Park season

Bushy Park Barbados will launch the new motor sport season on Saturday and Sunday, January 23 and 24, with an innovative new fixture, Radical International 2016. The St Philip facility will host drivers from the wider Caribbean and further afield as part of its on-going programme to promote the venue and the island as the hub of motor sport in the region.

PROCTER RETURNS FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2016

Britain’s Kevin Procter will make his 11th appearance in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event this year, when he lines up for Sol Rally Barbados 2016 at the wheel of his familiar Subaru Impreza WRC S7. Procter confirmed his entry yesterday (Thursday) during a brief family holiday in the island to see in the New Year.
