As individuals and organisations around the world mark International Women’s Day (Friday, March 8), island rallying’s most loyal overseas competitor, England’s Martin Stockdale, has confirmed that his co-driver for Sol Rally Barbados 2019 will be Emma Morrison. ‘Mad-dale’, as islands fans have dubbed him, returns for his 19th visit to compete, while multiple co-driving champion Emma is back for the second time, one of 16 women among the entries so far received on-line.

Mallalieu wins Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy

Adam Mallalieu was crowned Champion of the inaugural Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT) after the final double-header at Bushy Park Barbados over the weekend (March 2/3). The 14-year-old Harrison College student claimed four more victories to bring his total of wins to 10 in the 24-race series, which was supported by the FIA’s Sport Grant Programme and fought out by young karters from Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica.

Williams and Digicel sponsorship confirmed at BPMSI Awards

When members of Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI) gathered in the Cafeteria at Bushy Park Barbados on Sunday (February 24) to salute the Club’s 2018 Champion Driver Devan McCartney and Champion Rider Kevin Bynoe, a surprise announcement provided further cause for celebration. Williams Industries and Digicel Barbados once again affirmed their support for the Club’s annual International Race Meet, this year scheduled for August 31/September 1.

Caribbean Junior Karting title to be decided this weekend

The inaugural Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT), supported by the FIA’s Sport Grant Programme, reaches its conclusion at Bushy Park this weekend (March 2/3). Reigning Barbados 125cc Champion Adam Mallalieu holds a slender two-point advantage over Calem Maloney, the early series leader and local 100cc Junior Champion last year, while Jamaica’s Ryan Chisholm, Zander Williams and Tommi Gore complete the top five.

Record number of trophies for overseas competitors

More than 80 members of the motor sport community, both competitors and volunteer officials, were recognised for their achievements and commitment to the sport at the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Annual Prizegiving at Mahogany Ridge, St Thomas, on Saturday evening (February 23). As Jamaica’s Jeffrey Panton won back-to-back Champion Driver titles, a record number of trophies were won by overseas participants, including Rob Swann, who flew in from the UK for all seven rounds of the Driver’s & Class Championships.

Walsh heads successful Barbados connections in busy UK weekend

British crew Tom Preston and Carl Williamson, who won Group A and finished ninth overall in Sol Rally Barbados 2018, are the first confirmed entry for the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) new FIA R5 category as the Club prepares for this year’s 30th running of its premier event. He will drive the Hippo Motor Group Skoda Fabia R5 in which he lies seventh in the British Rally Championship after last Saturday’s (February 16) opening round, the Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally in North Wales.

Mallalieu edges ahead in Caribbean Junior Karting series

Reigning Barbados 125cc Champion Adam Mallalieu has edged into a narrow lead in the inaugural Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT) after rounds three and four at Bushy Park Barbados over the weekend (February 2/3). Leader after the first two rounds, Calem Maloney maintained his advantage on Saturday, with two race wins, but Mallalieu won three of Sunday’s four races to move into a two-point lead – 300 to 298 - ahead of the final two rounds next month.

Dates confirmed for upcoming Rally Club events

Sol Rally Barbados regular Paul Rees has confirmed his participation in this year’s 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event fresh from his most successful season yet in UK rallying. Having won two regional championships outright, he and co-driver Paul Briggs celebrated the first of those last Saturday (January 26) at the East Midlands Association of Motor Clubs (EMAMC) Annual Awards Dinner, close to their home town of Mansfield.

FIA Trainer cites “great future for Caribbean motor sport”

Ahead of rounds three and four of the Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT) at Bushy Park Barbados this weekend (February 2/3), the 14 young regional contenders have earned high praise from Dubai Grand Prix Clerk of the Course Ronan Morgan. After heading the team of FIA-accredited Regional Training Providers (RTP) who tutored the youngsters last month, he said: “they promise a great future for Caribbean motor sport.”
