Edward Corbin - Daihatsu Charmant (BRC Winter Sprint 2019)
Modified 1 saw a total of four entries for the Barbados Rally Club's Winter Sprint event. Of those four, only two would finish the full event. Edward Corbin emerged victorious in M1 in both directions. His closest competition, Ben Hartling (Citroen C2 R2 MAX) finished 9.45 seconds behind in 2nd, while Shareef Walcott (Toyota Corolla) was a further 12.74 seconds behind in 3rd. Pierre Beswick (Citroen C2 R2 MAX) would complete the class finishers in 4th with a best time of 2:48.02. Unfortunately for Ben and Shareef, they would not return for the second direction runs in the afternoon. A power steering line on Ben's Citroen came loose, while Shareef struck a pole midway through the third morning run. The good news is that both Shareef and his co-driver are fine. With now only two cars remaining in the class for the second direction runs, it would be an easy afternoon for Edward. This was mainly due to the fact that Pierre could not match Edward's pace. His best time would be a staggering 19.15 seconds off from Edward's best time of 2:30.97s. His win in Modified 1 maintains his 1st place by a very narrow margin in the 2019 BRC Drivers Championship with one more event to go. Additionally, he and Stan Hartling are now tied in 2nd place in the BRC 2WD Championship.
