Bushy Park Barbados and the organisers of next weekend’s annual Race Of Champions (December 13/14) have joined forces with world record stunt driver, England’s Terry Grant, who arrived in the island on Tuesday, to reach out to a new generation of motor sport fans . . . and to give something back to the community in the process.

• Multiple Formula 1 grand prix winner David Coulthard will compete at the 2014 Race Of Champions in Barbados later this month

After Lewis Hamilton claimed his second FIA Formula 1 World Championship at the spectacular Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi at the weekend, just six months after his crowd-pleasing display at Top Gear Festival Barbados in May, two days of post-season testing resulted in another island connection.

At a function hosted by Suzuki, motor sport champions from race track and rally stage gathered at the Yacht Club at Port St Charles last week to reflect on the Suzuki ROC Barbados Challenge, which selected the two drivers who will represent Team Barbados in the Race Of Champions at Bushy Park next month (December 13/14).

• The 1984 World Rally Champion will get behind the wheel of the classic Audi S1 rally car for a demonstration run at the Bushy Park Circuit

• This 500bhp+ beast from rallying’s classic Group B era in the Eighties can go from 0-100kmh quicker than a modern-day Formula 1 car

• The demo will accompany ROC 2014’s action featuring greats from F1, World Rally, Le Mans, MotoGP, IndyCar, NASCAR, Rallycross and Touring Cars

• Five-time 500cc MotoGP world champion Mick Doohan will compete at next month’s Race Of Champions in Barbados

• Doohan will also partner six-time V8 Supercar champion Jamie Whincup for Team Australia in the ROC Nations Cup
