SIXTY TO BE REWARDED FOR MOTOR SPORT SUCCESS

Competitors from the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) will gather for the final time in the Club’s 50th Anniversary season next Friday (November 23) at the Annual Prizegiving, slated for a 7.30pm start at the BCTSA Clubhouse, Searles, Christchurch.

All the leading contenders in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2007 Safari Championship appear on the entry list published today for Sunday’s (November 11) final round, so competition promises to be fierce . . . an appropriate end to the Club’s 50th Anniversary season.

NOVEMBER SAFARI TO SETTLE CHAMPIONSHIP

Competition in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 50th Anniversary season is about to draw to a close, with navigators and drivers preparing to contest the final round of the 2007 BRC Safari Championship; with just a handful of points spread across the leading crews, the outcome of the Championship will depend on success or failure in the November Safari (Sunday, November 11).

In the 50th Anniversary season of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), Josh Read has added his name to the list of distinguished former Champions, including Michael Gill, Sean Gill, Roger Hill and Roger Skeete, by winning the recently-concluded 2007 Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s Championship.

BOURNE RETAINS RALLY CROWN

With a full house of eight fastest stage times in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) final rally of the season last Sunday (October 21), Paul ‘Surfer’ Bourne confirmed his position as champion-elect of the 2007 Texaco BRC Rally Championship; he ends the year with 70 points, more than 30 ahead of his closest rival, to retain the title he won for the first time last year.

BOURNE AND SKEETE FACE OFF AGAIN

More than 30 crews will line up on Sunday (October 21) for the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) last rally of the 2007 season. The Texaco BRC Gravel Rally is scheduled to start at 8.45am from Searles Factory Yard and will comprise eight special stages, four in each direction of a course at Searles Plantation.

ALL TO PLAY FOR IN DRIVER’S CHAMPIONSHIP

There's a thrilling finale in prospect for competitors in the 2007 Virgin Atlantic Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Driver’s Championship; just three points cover the top five in the standings ahead of the final round, the Texaco Gravel Rally on Sunday (October 21), where competition is expected to be intense.

HAMILTON GETS IT RIGHT IN BRITISH FORESTS

Barbados Rally Club (BRC) chairman Mark Hamilton enjoyed his first experience of forestry stages when he was among 66 drivers contesting the final round of the British Historic Rally Championship, at Trackrod Rally Yorkshire, in the north of England last Saturday (October 6).

CORBIN & EDWARDS WIN SEPTEMBER SAFARI

Novice crew Ryan Corbin and Dustin Edwards in the Corbin's Catering/Sweet Temptations Toyota Hilux beat some experienced practitioners in the art of navigational rallying to win the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) September Safari on Sunday (September 23).
Corbin and Edwards ended the day with 58 penalties, to edge out the experienced Pro crew of Mike Ward and Willie Hinds (Niccolls & Edghill Construction Jeep Wrangler), who incurred 90 penalties to finish second; another novice crew - Wayne Archer and Rhett Watson (Nissan Pickup) – placed third, with 100 penalties.

QUALITY ENTRY FOR SEPTEMBER SAFARI

As the front-runners in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Safari Championship all look forward to the chance of scoring more vital points in this weekend’s third round (Sunday, September 23), those responsible for running the Championship are equally delighted with the growing support for these navigational events that hark back to the Club’s roots.
