SIXTY TO BE REWARDED FOR MOTOR SPORT SUCCESS
Competitors from the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) will gather for the final time in the Club’s 50th Anniversary season next Friday (November 23) at the Annual Prizegiving, slated for a 7.30pm start at the BCTSA Clubhouse, Searles, Christchurch.
More than 60 Club members will receive awards, marking their success in what has proved to be a highly-competitive season, and a glowing tribute to the Club’s legacy. Awards will be presented for the Texaco BRC Rally Championship, the Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s Championship and the BRC Safari Championship, which concluded with the November Safari last Sunday (November 11).
In addition, a number of Special Awards will be presented, including the Richard Roett Memorial Trophy and the Rookie of the Year.
Club chairman Mark Hamilton said: “I think it is fair to say that everyone has made the most of the Club’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, and we look forward very much to our next 50 years; our Annual Prizegiving is the last chance for members to meet in this milestone season, so I am hoping for a good turnout to bring the curtain down on what has been a fantastic year.
“We have seen good competition in all our championships and events and the Club has enjoyed tremendous support from competitors, members and sponsors alike . . . but I must again say a special word of thanks to our volunteer marshals and officials, without whose commitment staging our annual calendar of events would simply not be possible.”
The Prizegiving next Friday is scheduled to start at 7.30pm; there will be a free bar from 7.30 to 9.00pm and complimentary food will be available following the Prizegiving ceremony itself.
