VAUCLUSE RACEWAY START FOR TARMAC RALLY

The Barbados Rally Club's first Tarmac Rally of the season, slated for a 9.00am start at the Vaucluse Raceway on Sunday (April 4), is being used by the organising team as a shakedown for Rally Barbados.
The event will comprise 12 stages at three venues, Orange Hill, Diamond Corner and Dark Hole, with a service halt at Vaucluse between each group of three stages; after the lunch halt, scheduled for 12.15pm, the stages will run in the reverse direction, with the finish at 4.15pm, back at Vaucluse.
Organising committee chairman Barry Gale explained: "This event is a warm-up for Rally Barbados, so we can check our systems and find any anomalies well in advance; the ASRs are almost identical to those in place for Rally Barbados, and we will be using all the same officials and rally control personnel.
"We are also going to present the results in a slightly different format; provisional results will be declared on Sunday after the finish, after which competitors will be given 60 minutes to enter any protests. The amended results will then be made available at the Boatyard on Monday (April 5) at 6.30pm, where competitors may view the amendments. The only protests permissable then will be against mathematical errors, or something changed from the provisional results without explanation; after 30 minutes, the amended results will be declared official, and awards presented to the top three overall, plus class winners, courtesy of the Boatyard Bar and Restaurant."
A strong entry is anticipated for the event, as competitors start their preparations for the Rally Barbados, which will run this year over the weekend of May 29/30.
