Browne wins pilot BMF Smart Driving Challenge

Tarik Browne is the first local winner in the worldwide FIA Smart Driving Challenge (SDC). Thanks to support from CG United Insurance Ltd, he has won a staycation at Coral Mist Beach Hotel in Worthing as the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) steps up its commitment to the worldwide campaign to decarbonise road transport and develop safer, more considerate driving habits.

Wood wins as BimmaCup headlines BARL at Bushy Park

Four hard-fought BimmaCup races were the highlights of the Barbados Auto Racing League’s (BARL) second visit of the season to Bushy Park Barbados last Sunday (July 7). Winner of two of the four races, Ryan Wood overcame a first-lap spin in the day’s final race to top the category points for the day, while David Small is now the provisional leader of the overall BARL Championship with two class wins.

Records broken at Chefette MudDogs June Safari

Records were broken at the Chefette MudDogs June Safari last weekend (June 29/30). Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal claimed the first hat-trick of victories in the 67-year history of the event, and did so by one of the smallest-ever margins, while the youngest crew to participate in decades, Charles Clarke and Austin Barber, won Class B.

Youngest MudDogs crew set for Chefette June Safari

When the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) marks its 67th Anniversary this weekend (June 29/30) with the Chefette June Safari, the entry list will include the youngest crew by combined ages to start an event since the MudDogs Championship began 20 years ago. And their participation emphasizes one of the founding tenets of the Club in the 1950s, the importance of family for continuity.

Back-to-back Bushy Park action weekends on the way

Three of the island’s motor sport clubs are organising back-to-back weekends of action at Bushy Park Barbados, following some recent changes to the Barbados Motoring Federation’s (BMF) calendar. Starting this Sunday (June 30) with Drag Racing, followed by Circuit Racing and Time Attack (July 7) and Autocross (July 13), there is a broad cross-section of disciplines on offer.

Mayers retains BKA lead but margins are reduced

Jacob Mayers has halved his cousin Zak’s lead in the Sectus Technologies Barbados Karting Association (BKA) Championship after Sunday’s (June 23) fifth round at Bushy Park Barbados. Three wins have cut Zak’s cushion in the Easykart 100cc from 47 to 25 points, while Calem Maloney’s four wins in Easykart 125cc have brought him to within six points of second-placed Jacob in the overall standings.

Drivers in the Sectus Technologies Barbados Karting Association (BKA) Championship reach the mid-point of their season on Sunday (June 23), when round five out of nine runs off at Bushy Park Barbados. With a seven-week break before the next Race Meet in August, everyone is keen to head into the summer holidays off the back of a good day’s racing and with a psychological advantage over their rivals.

Simpson first Barbadian in Le Mans 24 Hours

The Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) has congratulated former island karting Champion Kyffin Simpson, who this weekend (June 15/16) becomes the first Barbadian to compete in the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours. While he is currently racing in the NTT IndyCar series in the United States, Simpson is no stranger to endurance events, having won the 2023 European Le Mans Series with Algarve Pro Racing.

Gregg and Read in titanic battle for Rally2 title

Barbadian Josh Read and Jamaica’s Kyle Gregg are locked in a titanic battle for the Barbados Rally2 Championship sponsored by CIBC Caribbean and Ace H & B Hardware. After five rounds and nearly 220 kilometres of competitive special stages, culminating in last weekend’s (May 31-June 2) BCIC RB24, they are separated by just four points as they head into the summer break.
