Rally Club pays tribute to motor sport legend Ken Block

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has joined motor sport fans the world over to mourn the passing of American motor sport icon Ken Block, who died in a snowmobile accident in Wasatch County, Utah, yesterday (January 2) at the age of 55. A statement from Hoonigan said: "It's with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today. Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon. And most importantly, a father and a husband."

Caterham Caribbean Cup 2023 heads for Bushy Park

British sports car manufacturer Caterham Cars will round off its 50th Anniversary year in 2023 with a unique race meeting at Bushy Park Barbados. The Caterham Caribbean Cup, supported by Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) will run from Friday to Sunday, November 24 to 26, bringing its special brand of wheel-to-wheel racing to the region for the first time.

BMF applauds FIA Rookie of the Year Zane Maloney

The Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) has applauded the achievements of Formula 3 racer Zane Maloney following a whirlwind seven days in Europe for the 19-year-old Barbadian. While the headline news was joining the Red Bull Junior Team as a Formula 1 reserve driver for 2023, he also collected trophies at ceremonies in London, Monaco and Bologna, where he was crowned FIA Rookie of the Year, the second-youngest circuit racing winner behind double World Champion Max Verstappan and the first from F3.

Date change for Rally Barbados 2023 as entries open

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has changed the dates of next year’s 33rd edition of its premier event to avoid a direct clash with a number of international rallies including rounds of the World Rally Championship and Motorsport UK British Rally Championship. Rally Barbados 2023 will now run on June 10/11, with the Rally Show and King of the Hill the weekend before; on-line entries will open on rallybarbados.net on Sunday (December 11) at 12.00pm UK time/08.00am Barbados time.

Bushy Park congratulates F3 racer Zane Maloney

The management of Bushy Park has congratulated Zane Maloney following today’s (Wednesday) announcement of the next step of his career. Two days after collecting the John Cooper Trophy at the British Racing Drivers’ Club Awards in London, 19-year-old Maloney confirmed on his Facebook page this morning that he will be a member of the Red Bull Junior Team and a Formula 1 reserve driver in 2023.

Barbados Motoring Federation becomes FIM affiliate

The Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) has become affiliated to the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the world governing body of motorcycle sport. After submitting the application earlier this year, the BMF was officially welcomed into the global FIM family by President Jorge Viegas in Rimini, Italy, on Friday (December 2).

Close battles for R5 places resolved at ULTRAFEST

The island’s first-ever national motor sport series, the R5 Rally Championship presented by First Citizens, was settled during the all-new ULTRAFEST at Bushy Park Barbados last Saturday (November 19). Administered by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF), the 15-round contest has combined drag racing, special stage rallies and sprints, with the final run as a RallySprint on the three-kilometre course designed for the 2014 Race Of Champions, which was won by 13-time Grand Prix winner David Coulthard.

Corbin, Maloney and Wortman win ULTRAFEST Finals

Neil Corbin, Mark Maloney and Trinidad and Tobago’s Justin Wortman won the KnockOut Finals at the ULTRAFEST RallySprint yesterday (Saturday) at Bushy Park Barbados. The last three head-to-head races of more than 60 during the afternoon were run as the sun was setting and the venue’s all-arena lighting turned on, after which some of the island’s leading drag racers kept the crowd on their feet much later into the evening.

Non-stop RallySprint action at ULTRAFEST Saturday

Drivers from Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Turks & Caicos Islands and the UK will join local aces for five hours of non-stop track action at Bushy Park Barbados on Saturday (November 19), where ULTRAFEST will host the final round of the R5 Rally Championship, presented by First Citizens. The RallySprint will feature more than 80 short sharp head-to-head races on the same two-lane three-kilometre layout that was used for the Race Of Champions in 2014.
