Maloney leads SR3 Cup from newcomer Myers

Mark Maloney of Barbados is the early leader of the Radical Caribbean SR3 Cup (RCC), following two race wins in Monday’s (April 29) opening round at Bushy Park Barbados. While his brother Stuart, the reigning RCC Champion, won the second race, Jamaican newcomer William Myers ended the day second on points, after an impressive three podium finishes on his debut in the regional series for Suzuki-powered Radical SR3s.

Popular Scottish driver Kenny Hall will return the Caribbean this year, eager not to miss Sol Rally Barbados 2019, the 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event. One of the Club’s most loyal overseas supporters, Hall will compete for the 16th time – a record he shares with Andrew Costin-Hurley, beaten only by Martin Stockdale’s 19 visits – with Dutch co-driver Fenny Wesselink back for her 11th visit.

Jamaican twosome join Radical Caribbean SR3 Cup

Double Jamaican Modified Production 2 Champion William Myers and fellow-countryman Horatio Brown will join the grid when the second season of the Radical Caribbean SR3 Cup gets under way at Bushy Park Barbados on Heroes Day Bank Holiday Monday, April 29. They bring to 36 the number of regional and international drivers who have competed in the Suzuki-powered Radical SR3 sports-racers at the St Philip facility.

In doing so, they claimed the Audley Croney Memorial Trophy for the second time, which was presented at last evening’s (Tuesday) Prizegiving by Audley’s son Jeremy.

Skeete beats Swann to Shakedown Stages title

First-timers Darryl Morris and Steve Gully will spearhead a full-on Ford Escort attack on Sol Rally Barbados 2019, the 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event. Class-winners on the annual Jersey Rally for the last four years, second overall in 2017 and again last year, they will be joined by Pete Rayner, who first introduced Morris to the Caribbean event and returns for the first time since 2016.

The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2019 MudDogs Safari Championship kicks off with Saturday’s (April 13) April Safari, both the opening round and the series once again sponsored by local restaurant chain Chefette Restaurants. The season’s first event also marks a shift in the Championship’s format, which will this year include more events which run into the night, presenting crews with an even greater challenge.

A thrilling high-speed battle between rising star Dane Skeete and Britain’s Rob Swann in a pair of Subaru Impreza WRC S12Bs launched the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Driver’s & Class Championships in fine style yesterday (Sunday). Hundreds of spectators lined three special stage venues in the north of the island for the BRC Shakedown Stages to see Skeete soak up the pressure from the experienced Swann, fighting back through the field after losing time on the opening stage, and win by less than two seconds.

SWANN LEADS 40-CAR ENTRY FOR SHAKEDOWN STAGES

Debut of RallySafe event management system

Britain’s Rob Swann and Darren Garrod are seeded at number one for the opening round of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Driver’s & Class Championships on Sunday (April 7). Forty crews were confirmed on the running order for the BRC Shakedown Stages at last night’s Briefing Meeting at the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association (BCTSA) Clubhouse, Searles, Christ Church, during which a visiting team from RallySafe gave a presentation to a packed house on the timing and event management system.
