Champions Jeffrey and King set for Williams International

Multiple Guyanese and Caribbean Champions Kristian Jeffrey and Andrew King are the first overseas drivers confirmed for the Williams Industries International Race Meet at Bushy Park Barbados over the weekend of August 31/September 1. The highlight of the facility’s 2019 circuit racing season, the meet is organised by Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI) and staged with additional backing from Digicel Barbados and the Tourism Development Corporation (TDC).

RALLY CLUB RULE CHANGE ALLOWS 2016 WORLD CARS

Decision welcomed by overseas competitors

World Rally Cars built before the end of 2016 will now be eligible for Barbados Rally Club (BRC) events, following an overwhelming vote by the membership in favour of an amendment to the Club’s 2019 to 2021 Vehicle Regulations. Last evening’s (Tuesday) well-attended EGM at the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association (BCTSA) Clubhouse at Searles, Christ Church, also approved changes to the rules for Modified 4, minimum weights across all classes and some rim widths.

Patels win Class B in Shelbury Construction June Safari

Two new names were added to the Roll of Honour of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) longest-running event at the weekend (June 29/30) when Ben Norris and Kirk Watkins won the Shelbury Construction June Safari. After a close overnight contest through all but one of the island’s parishes, Norris and Watkins (Toyota Land Cruiser) prevailed by 100 penalty points, bringing the number of winners to 73 since the event was first run in June 1957.

Crews contesting the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2019 Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship are making final preparations for the toughest challenge of the year. With three routes totaling almost 200 kilometres, two tough Driver Challenges and a route that touches all but one of the island’s parishes, this weekend’s (June 29/30) June Safari will be a real test of mental and physical stamina.

Sean Maloney takes over regional SR3 Cup lead

Former Champion Sean Maloney of Barbados has assumed the lead of the Radical Caribbean SR3 Cup (RCC), following a dramatic day of changing fortunes in round two at Bushy Park Barbados on Monday (June 10). He shared the race wins with brother Stuart, the reigning RCC Champion, and Trinidad & Tobago’s Kristian Boodoosingh, while two more podium finishes for Jamaica’s Williams Myers keep the title fight wide open, which just a 13-point difference from first to fourth.

Maloney aiming to build Radical Caribbean SR3 Cup lead

Early points leader Mark Maloney will be looking to increase his advantage in the 2019 Radical Caribbean SR3 Cup when round two runs off at Bushy Park Barbados on Bank Holiday Monday (June 10). With two race wins and a second place from the opening round in April, Maloney starts the day 20 points clear of the chasing pack, with three 15-lap races on the schedule.

On their debut in the event’s World Rally Car class, Dane Skeete and Tyler Mayhew won Sol Rally Barbados 2019, the 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event; after a weekend of high drama and a rarely-seen level of attrition among the front-runners, their margin of victory in the Sol/CO Williams Sand & Lime/Automotive Art Subaru Impreza WRC S12B was just over one minute.

Following their fourth consecutive victory in Flow King of the Hill at its new location of Stewart’s Hill last Sunday, Jamaica’s Jeffrey Panton and Michael Fennell Jnr are top seeds for the 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event. The entry list of 98 cars for Sol Rally Barbados 2019 - one shy of the 2012 record of 99 starters – was published by the BRC at last evening’s (Wednesday) Briefing Meeting at Mahogany Ridge, St Thomas.
