CORBIN AND EDWARDS WIN SEPTEMBER SAFARI

Former Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Safari Champions Ryan Corbin and Dustin Edwards returned to Winners’ Row last Sunday (September 17), when they won the MudDogs September Safari in the Mahogany Ridge/Corbin's Catering Services Toyota Hilux. The 2010 Champions had lagged behind the opposition in the morning, but fought back in the afternoon route to win with a total of 451 penalties.

Walcott wins 2017 BPMSI Champion Driver title

Andre Walcott (Courts iFinance/M-Grafix/Courts Optical Suzuki Swift) is Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc’s (BPMSI) new Champion Driver. At the fourth and final round of the Club’s 2017 Championship season during the Williams Industries International Race Meet at the St Philip facility on September 2/3, he added three further Group 1/Class 1 wins to his earlier nine to maintain a 100 per cent hit rate and amass a total of 214 points.

TOP CREWS TIED AHEAD OF SEPTEMBER SAFARI

Four-time Champions Leslie Alleyne and Chris O'Neal (Simpson Motors/Shell Spirax/Shell Rimula/Maxxis Isuz D-Max) are tied in the lead of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship with Jean-Marc Cozier and Andrew Croney (Honda Pioneer) as crews make final preparations for the penultimate round on Sunday (September 17).

Sahara Force India and Ocon for Barbados Festival of Speed

Sahara Force India Formula One driver Esteban Ocon, who started from a career-best third on the grid at last week’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza, will join former F1 World Champion Jenson Button at the Barbados Festival of Speed on Saturday, October 14. The rising French star, who turns 21 later this month, returns to Bushy Park Barbados, where he and fellow-countryman Romain Grosjean - now an F1 rival - reached the semi-finals of Race Of Champions in 2014.

Maloney and Jeffrey break Bushy Park Barbados lap records

Mark Maloney broke the Outright Lap Record for Bushy Park Barbados on Sunday (September 3) during round three of the Suzuki Challenge Series at the Williams Industries International Race Meet, just one day after Guyana’s Kristian Jeffrey had set a new Qualifying Record. Both records were previously held by ‘Sol’ Esuf, who nevertheless extended his lead in the SR3 Cup standings with two wins.

Records tumble at Williams Industries International

Records tumbled at Bushy Park Barbados over the weekend as the island played host to the third round of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) at the Williams Industries International Race Meet (September 2/3). Team Barbados was the top points-scorer of the weekend, moving from third to second in the Country standings, with reigning champions Mark Maloney and Mark Thompson now the respective leaders of the Group 4 (2wd) and Group 2 standings for 2017.

Near-record entry for Williams Industries International

Reigning Champions Mark Maloney and Mark Thompson lead Team Barbados in to battle at Bushy Park this weekend (September 2/3) in round three of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC). With Barry and Roger Mayers – current CMRC lap-record holder and former CMRC Champion respectively – also ready for action, and a near-record entry for the Williams Industries International Race Meet, motor racing fans are being urged not to miss out.

Record competitor numbers for BADD Round 3

The Barbados Association of Dragsters & Drifters (BADD) attracted the largest-ever entry in its seven-year history when 54 competitors faced the starter at Bushy Park on August 20. Many of the racers in Launch Control: Round 3 were newcomers, who made the transition from the extremely-successful Practice Day run on the previous Sunday, while all eight class-winners from Round 2 in May had taken advantage of BADD’s generous offer of free entry for Round 3.

Winter Champion Jeffrey’s 8,000-mile return to the SR3 Cup

Reigning SR3 Cup Winter Champion Kristian Jeffrey will return to the Suzuki Challenge Series at Bushy Park Barbados next weekend (September 2/3) at the Williams Industries International Race Meet. The 28-year-old Guyanese driver is squeezing an 8,000-mile trans-Atlantic round trip in between rounds five and six of the UK Radical Challenge Championship, which he has been contesting to broaden his racing experience.

Gregg leads regional invasion for CMRC International

Jamaica’s Kyle Gregg is targeting a new Bushy Park Barbados lap record as he heads into round three of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) at the Williams Industries International Race Meet (September 2/3). Races for all five CMRC categories on two and four wheels are the headline events on the 25-race programme organised by Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI), which will welcome more than 20 racers from six regional territories.
