IRISH BOOST 4WD ENTRY FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Two Irish drivers who made their Caribbean debuts last year are among the six entries from the ‘Emerald Isle’ now confirmed for Sol Rally Barbados 2013 (June 1/2). Their addition to the on-line entry list on the official web site, www.rallybarbados.net, boosts the four-wheel-drive entry to 18, more than half that number in the WRC classes.

ALLEYNE AND O’NEAL WIN MARCH SAFARI

Three-time Champion Driver Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal in the Simpson Motors/Rimula Lubricants/Spirax Lubricants/Sol Isuzu D-Max won last Saturday’s (March 16) opening round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari and Safari Novice Championships.

WISER WORSWICK BACK FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Britain’s Nigel Worswick and Lindsey Pilkington will contest Sol Rally Barbados (June 1/2) for the third time this year, determined to put to good use the lessons learned on their previous two visits. His entry for the Worswick Engineering Ford Escort Mark II brings to 16 the number of International crews confirmed for the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport international, with further announcements in the pipeline.

CHAMPIONS START CHEFETTE MUDDOGS TITLE DEFENCE

Reigning Champion Driver Chris Armstrong and Navigator Wayne Clarke begin their title defence this Saturday (March 16) when the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari and Safari Novice Championships kick off for the 2013 season with the March Safari.   The pair won the opening round of last year’s Championship in their trusty Toyota Hilux and hope to repeat the feat at the weekend . . . but they will face some stiff opposition, including a number of previous Champions from the past decade.

BARBADOS RALLY CLUB RETAINS FOCUS ON ITS ROOTS

Despite the established worldwide appeal of Sol Rally Barbados, the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International, the event’s organiser, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), has not lost track of its roots. PEREZ PREPARES FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Three-time British and National Rally Champion Steve Perez got back behind the wheel of his ex-Marcus Gronholm Kick Energy Drink Ford Focus WRC07 last weekend for the first time in many months to kick-start the preparations for his eighth attack on Sol Rally Barbados (June 1/2), the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport international.   With regular co-driver Paul Spooner, Perez finished fourth and WR1 class-winner in Saturday’s (March 2) Malcolm Wilson Rally, second round of the REIS Get Connected BTRDA Rally Championship, which he won in 2010.

PANTON CONFIRMED FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Confirmation this week that Jamaica’s Jeffrey Panton has entered Sol Rally Barbados 2013 (June 1/2) in his ex-Marcus Gronholm Ford Focus WRC06 brings to four the entries confirmed for the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) new WRC-1 class in the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport international.   Driving a Toyota Celica GT4 in 1998, Panton was the event’s first winner from the wider Caribbean, following local ace Roger Skeete and Ireland’s Kenny McKinstry, who had shared the earlier victories six-two.

ARMSTRONG CHANGES UP FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Giant-killer Neil Armstrong, the highest-placed two-wheel-drive finisher in Sol Rally Barbados for the past two years, faces a new challenge in the 2013 running of the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International on June 1/2. It was confirmed this week that he will drive the Simpson Motors/MML Suzuki SX4 WRC in 2013.

IRELAND POWERS UP FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

As entries for Sol Rally Barbados 2013 (June 1/2) edged towards the starting list cap of 100 this week – the total hit 98 today (Friday) - father and son Eddie and Keith Power bring to four the number of first-time Irish crews entered for the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International. Entries remain open on the official web site, www.rallybarbados.net, for another three months.

STOCKDALE CONFIRMED FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Britain’s Martin Stockdale has confirmed that he will once again compete in the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International - Sol Rally Barbados - when he makes his 13th consecutive appearance in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event over the weekend of June 1/2 this year.
