"Level CMRC playing field” for Williams Digicel International

The 2015 Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) is heading for Bushy Park Barbados next month with one of the most competitive line-ups ever assembled and, according to one former race-winner, the prospect of a far more level playing-field for two- and four-wheel-drive cars.

SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2016 DATES ANNOUNCED

Bouyed by the record-breaking world-wide response to this year’s 25th Anniversary of the first running of its International All-Stage Rally in 1990, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has today (August 14) announced the dates for next year. Sol Rally Barbados 2016 will run from Friday to Sunday, June 3-5, with Scrutineering and King of the Hill the previous weekend, May 28/29. On-line entries will open on the official web site - www.rallybarbados.net – on October 1.

CARTER’S PIT STOP TO SPONSOR SUMMER SUN & STARS

The Carter’s Pit Stop / Power King Batteries Summer Sun & Stars Rally is the new title for the 12-stage event being organised jointly by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) and the Motoring Club of Barbados Inc (MCBI) at month-end (Saturday, August 29). The Barbados Historic Rally, organised by the Vaucluse Raceway Motor Sport Club (VR-MSC), will run ahead of the main event.

Williams Digicel International hosts CMRC at Bushy Park Barbados

The cream of the region’s motor sport stars are preparing for Bushy Park Barbados next month, when the circuit hosts the Williams Industries Digicel International Race Meet (September 12/13). Round three of the 2015 Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) is the headline event of an action-packed schedule, with approaching 12 hours of track activity on Sunday alone.

CLUBS COMBINE FOR SUMMER SUN & STARS RALLY

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) and the Motoring Club of Barbados Inc (MCBI) are pooling their resources next month to organise what will this year be titled the Summer Sun & Stars Rally on Sunday, August 29. As well as being a round of both Club’s 2015 championships, it will also host the second weekend of the Barbados Historic Rally Carnival, organised by the Vaucluse Raceway Motor Sport Club (VR-MSC).

BADD & BKA action at Bushy Park Barbados Sunday

The Barbados Association of Dragsters & Drifters (BADD) will return to the much-favoured day/night format at Bushy Park on Sunday (July 5), when it stages Summernight Warz, round two of the club’s 2015 Drag Warz series - slated to start at 3.30pm, it will run into the night to a finish time of around 8.00pm, with Practice in the afternoon, Qualifying just before sundown and the Eliminations under floodlights.

‘MUD-NIFICENT SEVEN’ BREAKS NEW RECORD

Victory for Leslie Alleyne in last weekend’s Sol Go Further June Safari (June 27/28) has inscribed his name in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) record books yet again. His seventh victory not only moved him one ahead of fellow ‘June’ veteran Wayne Clarke, but also carried him back 25 years, to his first appearance on the BRC’s longest-running event.

ALLEYNE AND CLARK CHASE RECORD SEVENTH

Navigational rally veterans Leslie Alleyne and Wayne Clarke will go head-to-head in next weekend’s Sol Go Further June Safari (June 27/28), each hoping to extend his record-breaking run of wins in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) longest-running event. With victory last year, Alleyne joined Clarke on six wins, two more than anyone else on the 69-strong list of previous winners.

CHAMPION WATSON LEADS RALLY CLUB TITLE CHASE

Reigning Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Champion Driver Rhett Watson maintained his point-perfect score over the two weekends of LIME King of the Hill and Sol Rally Barbados 2015 last month, to maintain his lead in this year’s title chase. Jamaican Jeff Panton’s victory on Sol RB15, his second in the island’s premier event, has moved him into the lead of both WRC-1 and the 4wd Championship.

Three new winners in Suzuki Challenge Series

Three new winners joined the Suzuki Challenge Series roll of honour, as the competition intensified in round three at Bushy Park Barbados yesterday (June 14). In the Swift Cup, Barry Gale and Jamaica’s David Summerbell Jnr brought the number of race-winners to five in the first nine races, while Guyana’s Mark Vieira finally broke the Maloney family’s stranglehold on the top step of the podium in the SR3 Cup.
