BRC GRAVEL RALLY OPENS TEXACO CHAMPIONSHIP

The opening round of the new-for-2005 Texaco Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Rally Championship is slated for this Sunday, March 6. The BRC Gravel Stage Rally will start from the Vaucluse Raceway in St Thomas at 9.00am.
Entries close tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4.00pm, by which time BRC competition secretary Barry Gale is hopeful of an entry of quality and quantity. He said: "We made an excellent start to the Club's 2005 programme with a very competitive Gravel Sprint at Black Bess two weeks ago, so we are looking forward to building on that."

NAVIGATIONAL SEASON GETS UNDER WAY

The success of the Barbados Rally Club's (BRC) first navigational championship in 2004 looks set to be repeated this year. Nearly 30 crews are expected to line up for the opening round of this season's Ruf 'N' Tuf BRC 4x4 Navigational Championship, which is scheduled for a 2.00pm start this Saturday (February 26).

MANNING DOMINATES AT BLACK BESS

Trevor 'Electric Micey' Manning blasted back to the front of the local motor sport scene on Sunday (February 20) with a dominant performance in the opening round of the Virgin Atlantic Barbados Rally Club Driver's Championship.

Roger Mayers will carry start number 1 on the Trivial Pursuit Ford Focus WRC when the Barbados Rally Club's (BRC) 2005 season kicks off with the BRC Gravel Sprint at the Black Bess Plantation in St Peter on Sunday (February 20).

TEXACO TO SPONSOR NEW BRC RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

Texaco West Indies Limited is the title sponsor of a new Barbados Rally Club (BRC) championship, which will be known as the Texaco BRC Rally Championship. Club chairman Bruce Lambert confirmed the three-year deal at the Club's Annual General Meeting at Kendall Sporting Club on Wednesday night (February 16) to an enthusiastic reception from members.

MOTOR SPORT SPONSORSHIP HITS NEW HIGH

Members of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) enjoyed an up-beat Annual General Meeting at Kendall Sporting on Wednesday night (February 16), with confirmation of unprecedented levels of sponsorship for the Club's 2005 championships, and news of a return to profit for Rally Barbados.
In stark contrast to last year's AGM, at which a number of senior members pressed the committee of management for reassurances that the Club's financial position was sound, Wednesday's meeting was extremely positive.
