MUDDOGS TO BE TESTED ON CHEFETTE APRIL SAFARI

  When the 22 confirmed crews line up for this Saturday’s (April 14) Chefette April Safari - the second round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) MudDogs Safari Championship - they will be facing a tough challenge . . . unlike most events, however, this will not be a challenge created by bad weather creating muddy terrain, but man-made, because of the almost drought-like conditions of recent weeks.

PANTON FIRED UP FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

  Fresh from an encouraging debut in his recently-acquired ex-Marcus Gronholm Ford Focus WRC06, Jamaica’s Jeffrey Panton is fired up for his tarmac debut in the car on Sol Rally Barbados 2012 (June 9/10). With regular co-driver Mike Fennell Jnr, he finished second to local hero John Powell’s Subaru Impreza WRC S14 on the tough loose-surface stages of last weekend’s Rally Trinidad.

MUDDOGS MAKE READY FOR CHEFETTE APRIL SAFARI

  The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) MudDogs Chairman Warren Gollop is urging crews to enter early for the Chefette April Safari, which will run off on Saturday, April 14. The second round of the BRC MudDogs Safari and Chefette MudDogs Novice Safari Championships comes just four weeks after the 2012 season’s curtain-raiser.   With the busy Easter weekend just around the corner and Friday and Monday both public holidays, Gollop’s message is clear and simple: “Remember - to win, you must first enter! There’s no rest for the wicked or for Rabid Rally-ists!

SOL RALLY BARBADOS TARGETS REGIONAL FANS

In a first for Caribbean motor sport, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), organiser of Sol Rally Barbados 2012 (June 9/10), has partnered with Going Places Travel to launch a series of specially-tailored travel packages targeted at the hundreds of motor sport fans in the region. Inclusive of round trip airfare, all taxes and fees, hotel and rental car, prices for a three-night package start at just US $494.   The regional push is the final component of the BRC’s overseas promotion to be announced.

SOL RALLY BARBADOS 4WD GROUPS FLYING HIGH

 

Entries for the four-wheel-drive groups in Sol Rally Barbados 2012 (June 9/10) are flying high. Recent postings on the event’s official web site, www.rallybarbados.bb, are pushing numbers towards record levels . . . and there are still seven weeks to go before the closing date for the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport international.

MARSHALS “BEST PRIZE” FROM SOL RALLY BARBADOS

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has stepped up its worldwide promotion of Sol Rally Barbados 2012 by joining forces with the Donnelly Group Circuit of Ireland Rally (April 6/7). Two lucky volunteer marshals who work on the Easter weekend event will win an all-expenses-paid return trip across the Atlantic if their names are drawn out of the hat by reigning Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) Champion Andreas Mikkelsen.

CHEFETTE STEPS IN TO SPONSOR MARCH SAFARI

  Chefette Restaurants has upped its support for the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) MudDogs Safari Championship. In addition to backing the Novice Championship, the Rookie Crew of the Year Award and next month’s April Safari, the company has stepped in as title sponsor for this Saturday’s (March 17) opening round.   MudDogs Chairman Warren Gollop said: “We found ourselves without our usual sponsor this year, due to the prevailing economic winds, and Chefette answered the call.

  A record-equalling 10 cars have now been confirmed by the organising Barbados Rally Club (BRC) for the Modified 8-WRC class of Sol Rally Barbados 2012, following recent on-line entries received from former local, regional and international Rally Champions on the event’s official web site - www.rallybarbados.bb.

MARCH SAFARI OPENS NEW MUDDOGS SEASON

  Crews contesting the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) MudDogs Safari Championship and the Chefette MudDogs Safari Novice Championship are making final preparations for the launch of the new season. The BRC MudDogs March Safari next Saturday (March 17) is the first chance to dust off the cobwebs since last year’s Nassco October Safari.   Competitors can expect a tough start the year: not only have the recent unseasonal rains made for some challenging terrain, but the route-setters know pretty much every trick in the book, as both have experience on both sides of the cab.

BARBADOS RALLY CLUB SEASON KICKS OFF IN STYLE

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) launches its 55th Anniversary season in style over the next two weekends. Competitors in high-tech rally machines, four-wheel-drive MudDogs off-roaders and ‘daily driver’ grass roots autocross cars will kick off their 2012 campaigns, with spectators expected in large numbers, hungry for action after the motor sport drought of the winter months.   The BRC Autocross Championship gets under way at Bushy Park, St Philip, on Saturday (March 10), where the first of four rounds will run alongside Annual Scrutineering.
