RallyE-Barbados 2020!

Although the coronavirus pandemic has caused the postponement of Flow King of the Hill and Sol Rally Barbados, scheduled for the coming two weekends (May 24 & May 29-31), there will be something new for competitors and spectators to savour. The on-line rally group, Carib Rally Club, will be hosting RallyE-Barbados 2020 on Codemasters’ Dirt Rally 2.0 game with the full support and authorisation of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC).

KYFFIN SIMPSON SIGNS FOR VELOCITY RACING DEVELOPMENT

AHEAD OF 2020 F4 US CAMPAIGN

April 20, London: 15-year-old Bajan racer Kyffin Simpson today confirmed his 2020 programme with Formula 4 United States Championship front-runners Velocity Racing Development following a successful car racing debut in the four-round Yacademy Winter Series, where he scored two podiums in six races.

A month since confirming the postponement of Sol Rally Barbados 2020 and its associated events, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) remains committed to its premier event. In a statement issued today (April 21) the Club has updated its membership and overseas competitors with its current plans for the future, all of which still remain subject to the impact of Covid-19 in the island and further afield.

Sol Rally Barbados 2020 and Flow King of the Hill, scheduled for the last two weekends in May, have been postponed. Following confirmation of the first two cases of Covid-19 in the island on Tuesday (March 17) and the escalation of the coronavirus crisis in the UK, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has reacted quickly to confirm the news.

Record-breaking Zane Maloney leads Radical Caribbean Cup

After two Free Practice sessions, Qualifying began without Trinidad & Tobago’s Zachary Boodram, whose car had developed engine problems which left him on the sidelines for the day. Mark Maloney was the first to complete a flying lap of 61.780s before 16-year-old Zane punched in the first sub-60s lap, then chipped away as the 10-minute session ran its course, breaking the Qualifying Record for a third time with an eventual 57.660s, more than half-a-second better than the previous mark set by his father Sean in 2018.

With the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) innovative new ‘Test Stage’ just two weeks away (March 28), preparations are in high gear for the domestic rally and speed event season. As island drivers bring their competition cars to full readiness, so the local entries for Sol Rally Barbados have been flowing in, with last year’s winners Dane Skeete and Tyler Mayhew in their Sol/CO Williams Sand & Lime/Automotive Art Subaru Impreza WRC S12B topping approaching 30 already posted on-line.

Radical Caribbean Cup set for action-packed start

Three former Champions will line up at Bushy Park Barbados on Sunday (March 15) on the largest grid yet assembled for an opening round of the Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC). All signs point towards an action-packed start to the regional championship’s third season, as newcomers Zachary Boodram, Tobias Lutke and Raymond Seebarran bring to 41 the numbers of drivers who have competed in the Radical SR3s since the launch of the former Suzuki Challenge Series in 2015.

Growth in competitor numbers, improvements in infrastructure

Describing 2019 as “an important year” for the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), Chairman Mark Hamilton reported a number of positives to the Annual General Meeting last night (Thursday). While citing growth in competitor numbers, upgrading of equipment prompted by revised vehicle regulations, improvements in infrastructure and satisfactory financial results, he also sounded a warning, however, that the Club and its membership “will need to continue working hard to maintain this in the coming years.”

Sol RB20 and Flow KotH join Cossie World Tour 2020

Sol Rally Barbados has today (March 5) been confirmed as a stop on the 2020 edition of American motor sport star Ken Block’s Cossie World Tour, which kicks off with Rally Mexico in 10 days’ time. With around six million followers on each of Facebook and Instagram, Block has become one of the most-recognised names in worldwide motor sport, with a huge boost in coverage of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event promised via the 751,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel.

Nations Cup introduced to Radical Caribbean Cup for 2020

Competitors in the 2020 Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC) will have an additional incentive to up their performance this year with the introduction of the Nations Cup, along with an extra point on offer for the fastest lap in each race. The regional championship’s third season kicks off at Bushy Park Barbados on Sunday, March 15, with all signs pointing towards bigger grids and hard-fought competition.
