Following a successful shakedown in the UK yesterday (Tuesday), Sol Rally Barbados regular Kevin Procter has confirmed that he will drive a Ford Fiesta in Sol RB16. The car will arrive in the island by air next week, bringing to three the number of cars flown in for this year’s event, a new record for the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International.

Last night’s (Friday) launch of a spectacular new rear-wheel-drive Ford Fiesta to be campaigned in the SuperModified 2 category in Sol Rally Barbados 2016 (June 3-5) by local ace Barry Mayers means all bets are off on the outcome of the much-anticipated two-wheel-drive battle in the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International.

Citroen World Rally Championship driver Kris Meeke says every rally fan should visit Sol Rally Barbados “at least once”. The Ulsterman made the remark when he joined the Circuit of Ireland’s Chief Marshal Raymond Linton last week to pick the names of two motor sport volunteers who will enjoy a trip to Sol RB16 next month (June 3-5) out of the prestigious Ulster Automobile Club Trophy.

World Rally Championship WRC 2 points-leader Elfyn Evans and co-driver Craig Parry will compete in Sol Rally Barbados 2016 (June 3-5) in the first-off-the-line Ford Fiesta R5 Evo which the car’s owner John Powell drove to victory in his home event, Rally Trinidad, this year. They will arrive in the island before Simpson Motors Scrutineering and Flow King of the Hill the previous weekend, allowing time to prepare for their new challenge.
