Barbadian Women in Motorsport featured in UK

Amid on-going work by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) to increase inclusivity in motor sport, four Barbadians are currently being showcased in a Women in Motorsport exhibition in the UK Midlands city of Coventry. Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) WiM chair Natya Soodeen, plus Pat Brewster, Leslie Evanson and Michelle King are pictured and profiled for their contribution to the sport.

Island officials attend on-line FIA Seminars

Four members of the island’s motor sport community participated in on-line seminars this month organised by the world governing body, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). Facilitated by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) as part of its on-going training programme, the Race Director Seminars were attended by the Barbados Rally Club’s Neil Barnard and Bushy Park Operations Manager and Radical Caribbean Cup co-ordinator Kurt Seabra, while Warren Gollop and Ron Layne attended the International Stewards Seminar.

Regional drivers prepare for Radical Caribbean Cup

Teams around the region are making ready for the return of circuit racing after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic. The Jamaica Race Drivers’ Club (JRDC) has started Track Days at the Dover Raceway, while the first Endurance race meet of the year will be run by the Guyana Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) at South Dakota this coming weekend, albeit behind closed doors.

Zane Maloney joins Trident Motorsport for FIA F3

Trident Motorsport confirmed today (January 21) that Barbadian Zane Maloney will join the team for the 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship. The 18-race campaign will be fought out over nine weekends between March and September, with all races supporting rounds of the Formula 1 World Championship, starting in Bahrain and ending in Monza.

Radical Caribbean headlines Bushy Park 2022 calendar

The return of the Radical Caribbean Cup (RCC), home to wheel-to-wheel action between the fastest race cars in the region, is the highlight of the provisional Bushy Park Barbados calendar published today (January 14). With more than 30 dates listed, there’s something for everyone, with grass-roots disciplines such as autocross and karting, plus regular Open Track Days, providing the chance for novices to try their hand.
