Nassco November Safari brings the season to a close

The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) most accomplished navigational rallying experts will team up for the first time as Driver and Navigator when the Club’s 2018 Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship reaches its climax on Sunday (November 11). Leslie Alleyne and Wayne Clarke, who share nine Championship titles and 15 victories in the iconic June Rally between them, are entered for the Nassco November Safari in the former’s regular Simpson Motors/Shell Spirax/Shell Rimula/Maxxis Isuzu D-Max.

Team Barbados heads for CMRC finale in Guyana

Reigning Group Champions Mark Maloney and Mark Thompson head for the final round of the 2018 Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) at South Dakota in Guyana this weekend (November 10/11) determined to keep Team Barbados in the fight for Country Championship points. Champion in 2016 & ’17, Maloney will compete in Group 4, while four-time title-winner Thompson will race in Gp2, accompanied by brother Kurt, who won the Gp2 crown in 2013.

The BRC Championship is heading for a thrilling finale in the Winter Rally in three week’s time, where an enhanced points structure applies; with no ‘dropped-score’ rule at year-end, every point counts.

The 2018 Radical Caribbean SR3 Cup goes down to the wire at South Dakota in Guyana next month (November 10/11), with three drivers still capable of capturing the inaugural regional title. Points leader Stuart Maloney (Barbados) and his brother and fellow SR3 Cup veteran Mark are split by teenage newcomer Isa Deen (Trinidad & Tobago), with a spread of just 27 points from first to third and 75 on offer at the final.

Barbados Rally Club returns to Stewarts Hill

Motor sport fans can expect an action-packed afternoon of motor sport on Sunday, October 28, when the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) returns to the iconic Stewarts Hill speed event course for the first time in six years. With a full-on spectator experience planned in conjunction with the title sponsor, the double-header final rounds of the inaugural Flow SuperSprint Series will make St Philip the day’s first-choice destination.

UPGRADES IN THE PIPELINE FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) long-term plans to upgrade the timing and results system for Sol Rally Barbados and its other championship events moved a step closer to fruition last week. Club PRO Neil Barnard visited Wales Rally GB, Britain’s round of the World Rally Championship, to check out the RallySafe system, developed in Australia and deployed on all WRC events, which provides a comprehensive rally management system, with live timing and vehicle tracking.

ARMSTRONG AND CLARKE BACK IN WINNERS’ ROW

Former Champions win Country View Bar & Grill Safari

Former Champions Chris Armstrong and Wayne Clarke returned to winners’ row for the first time in nearly four years last Sunday (September 16) when they won the Country View Bar & Grill September Safari, the fourth of five rounds in the 2018 Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship last Sunday. The 2012 MudDogs Champions incurred a total of 3202 penalties in their Toyota Hilux to emerge victorious from a tight three-way battle for supremacy, despite some mechanical issues early in the day.

McCartney & Bynoe are 2018 BPMSI Champions

Devan McCartney is Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc’s (BPMSI) Champion Driver for 2018, with Kevin Bynoe claiming the Champion Rider crown. At the third and final round of the Club’s 2018 Championship season during the Williams Digicel International Race Meet at the St Philip facility on September 1/2, McCartney claimed a hat-trick of Group 1/Class 2 wins, while Bynoe clinched the Superstock Bike title by just one point.
