Epic racing in round four of the Suzuki Challenge Series

Frequent heavy showers, tricky track conditions and the introduction of the Joker Lap in the Suzuki Challenge Series Swift Cup all contributed to a day of epic racing, which had thousands of fans on their feet at the Williams Industries Digicel International Race Meet at Bushy Park Barbados yesterday (September 13).

Competitors in the Suzuki Challenge Series Swift Cup have welcomed the introduction of the Joker
Lap for round four this weekend (September 12/13), as a salute to next month’s Red Bull Global Rallycross meeting at Bushy Park Barbados. Three races each for the Swift Cup and SR3 Cup will feature on a 23-race programme at the Williams Industries Digicel International Race Meet, alongside the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC).

Barbados welcomes regional racers for Seaboard Marine CMRC

Forty regional race-car drivers and bikers are making final preparations for next weekend’s (September 12/13) third round of the 2015 Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC). Competitors will travel from the Cayman Islands, Guyana, Jamaica, St Vincent & The Grenadines and Trinidad & Tobago to take part in the Williams Industries Digicel International Race Meet at Bushy Park Barbados.

Title-fighters Jones and Pope prepare for Bushy Park

Locked in battle for Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc’s (BPMSI) first Champion Driver title, class-leaders Quincy Jones and Jermin Pope are preparing for round three, which features on a 23-race programme at the Williams Industries Digicel International Race Meet next weekend (September 12/13). Fewer than 30 points cover the top five drivers at the half-way stage, with six races to go and a potential 150 points still up for grabs.

Bushy Park invests in competitors, spectators and volunteers

Bushy Park Circuit Inc (BPCI) is continuing its phased investment programme at the St Philip facility for the benefit of competitors, spectators and volunteers. The most recent enhancements will come on stream for the first time at the Williams Industries Digicel International Race Meet (September 12/13), featuring round three of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC).

Jeffrey Panton and Mike Fennell Jnr (Rubis / Sandals/ KIG Ford Focus WRC06) won yesterday’s (Saturday) Carter’s Pit Stop / Power King Batteries Summer Sun & Stars Rally . . . with Rain an extra challenge. Variable weather conditions made the 12-stage event tough going, with a high attrition rate accounting for many fancied 2wd front-runners and reducing the overall finishers list to just 12 of the original 28 starters.

Jamaica’s Jeffrey Panton (Rubis / Sandals / KIG Ford Focus WRC06) is top seed for tomorrow’s (Saturday) Carter’s Pit Stop / Power King Batteries Summer Sun & Stars Rally, heading an entry list of nearly 30 for the combined Barbados Rally Club (BRC) and Motoring Club (MCBI) event. A further 10 cars will run ahead of the main field in the Barbados Historic Rally, organised by the Vaucluse Raceway Motor Sport Club (VR-MSC).

"Level CMRC playing field” for Williams Digicel International

The 2015 Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) is heading for Bushy Park Barbados next month with one of the most competitive line-ups ever assembled and, according to one former race-winner, the prospect of a far more level playing-field for two- and four-wheel-drive cars.
