FAMILY FORTUNES FOR SKEETE FATHER AND SON

Roger Skeete had good cause to celebrate on Saturday evening (July 25), when the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) staged its Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint; not only was he overall and Modified 8-WRC winner in a gripping seventh round of the Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s and Class Championships, but son Dane also prevailed in Production 2.

CAPACITY ENTRY FOR TARMAC SPRINT

Spectators who make their way to the north of the island on Saturday evening (July 25) will enjoy a motor sport treat at the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint. The capacity entry further reaffirms the support that motor sport is currently enjoying, despite the challenging economic climate . . . and five drivers on the list have not yet joined the more than 70 who have already scored points this season.

SUMMER NIGHTS TARMAC SPRINT SATURDAY

Competitors will come under starters’ orders for the second half of the 2009 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships this weekend, when they gather for the BRC Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint on Saturday evening (July 25).
After a concentrated month of competition in May, during which the Automotive Art Shakedown Stages, Shell V-Power King of the Hill and Sol Rally Barbados 2009 offered them four points-scoring opportunities in the space of five weekends, competitors have been enjoying a welcome mid-season break.

CLOSE BATTLE IN PROSPECT BEFORE YEAR-END

Nearly 70 competitors have scored points in the 2009 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships, which reached their half-way stage over the two weekends of Shell V-Power King of the Hill and Sol Rally Barbados in late May. With six rounds remaining between now and November, there is a long way to go . . . even for those drivers whose strong performances in the Championship’s two key events have given them a mid-point advantage.

WHITE AND WARREN CLAIM ‘JUNE’ HONOURS

Darrin White added his name to the roll of honour of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) oldest event at the weekend (June 27/28), when he and navigator Robert Warren – claiming a second win – triumphed in the Shelbury Construction June Safari.

BARNARD AND GALE DEFEND ‘JUNE’ TITLE

Seven previous winners are among more than 30 entries for the Shelbury Construction June Safari this weekend (June 27/28), the 53rd running of the oldest motor sport event in the Caribbean with a continuous history. The second round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Mud Dogs Safari Championship will start from Heymans Factory, St Peter, at 2:01pm on Saturday.

MUD DOGS PREPARE FOR SHELBURY JUNE SAFARI

After a break of three months, the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Mud Dogs Safari Championship, competitors are preparing for the series to burst back into life with the Shelbury Construction June Safari (June 27/28), the longest event in the championship calendar.

MEEKE AND NAGLE REPEAT SOL RALLY BARBADOS WIN

Northern Ireland’s Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle won the Caribbean’s biggest annual international motor sport event, Sol Rally Barbados 2009, for the second time last weekend (May 29-31); driving the Digicel/Red Bull/ARMAG Subaru Impreza WRC S9 for the first time, Meeke’s winning margin was 16.75s, almost identical to last year.

VEHICLE TRACKING FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Organiser of Sol Rally Barbados, the Caribbean’s biggest annual international motor sport event, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has once again partnered with GeoOrbis to provide vehicle tracking during this weekend’s event, which kicks off with The Ceremonial Start at Simpson Motors between 7.00 and 9.00pm this evening (May 29).
