BARBADOS REPRESENTS IN BRITISH CURTAIN-RAISER

Neil Armstrong, one of the rising stars of rallying in the island, is joining forces with the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) to promote its premier event, Sol Rally Barbados 2009, in the UK; the hat-trick BRC Group Champion is entered for the opening round of the Pirelli MSA Gravel Rally Championship, Rallye Sunseeker 2009 (February 27/28), based in the English south coast resort of Bournemouth.

BARBADOS RALLY CLUB CONFIRMS 2009 CALENDAR

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has confirmed its competition calendar for 2009, following the first meeting of its Committee of Management for the New Year. The CoM has also announced a revised championship structure for rally and sprint events, after considering feedback from Members following changes in 2008.
The Club will organise three primary championships in 2009:
+ the Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s Championship – as in 2008 (when it was titled the Virgin Atlantic BRC RallySport Championship), this will be based on overall results in the 12 qualifying rounds

PROCTER RETURNS TO BARBADOS WITH THE SAME CAR!

Britain’s Kevin Procter, the latest European front-runner to confirm his entry for Sol Rally Barbados 2009, will break with tradition this year: for the first time since his debut in the island in 2003, he will tackle the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) blue riband event in a car he has rallied there previously.

EUROPEAN INTEREST HIGH IN SOL RALLY BARBADOS

With more than three months to go before the official closing date of Friday, May 1, the organizer of Sol Rally Barbados 2009, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), is receiving a steady flow of entries through its web site (www.rallybarbados.bb); the current count is just short of 30, with no fewer than 10 of those entered in the four-wheel-drive classes.

STOCKDALE RETURNS FOR RECORD NINTH VISIT

Today’s announcement from the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) that Martin Stockdale is among the early overseas entries confirmed for Sol Rally Barbados 2009 will bring cheer to thousands of the island’s motor sport enthusiasts; his record ninth consecutive appearance is also further evidence of continued confidence in the country’s premier motor sport event, despite the challenging economic times.

PEREZ CONFIRMED FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2009

Steve Perez is the first confirmed European entry for Sol Rally Barbados 2009 . . . and the 2004 UK National Rally Champion is a man on a mission. After missing a top-three slot for the third year in a row in 2008, he said: “We’ll just have to come back and by-pass the podium - I'm going all out to win!"

During the Christmas and New Year break, word of Sol Rally Barbados 2009 has been spreading far and wide . . . and the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) promotion of the 20th running of its premier event has been earning plaudits on motor sport internet forums in the region and further afield. This upsurge in interest is timely, as the on-line entry form went ‘live’ on Friday (January 2), opening entries for local and overseas competitors earlier than ever before.

SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2009 PROMOTION STEPPED UP

Five months ahead of the 20th running of its premier event, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has stepped up its European promotion of Sol Rally Barbados 2009, coinciding with the broadcast this week of British production company Acceleration TV’s coverage of the 2008 action on the popular Europe-wide satellite station Motors TV.

JAMAICANS CONFIRMED FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Jamaican drivers Jeffrey Panton – a former winner in Barbados - and Bobby Marshall have each won free shipping and free entry to Sol Rally Barbados 2009 after finishing the recently-contested Rally Jamaica (December 5-7) as the highest-placed local crews in the four-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive categories.

SKEETE FINISHES SECOND IN RALLY JAMAICA

Roger Skeete made a triumphant return to Petcom Rally Jamaica at the weekend (December 5-7), repeating the podium finish of his last visit in 2003. With co-driver Robert Simmons, he finished second in the Michelin/FB Batteries Subaru Impreza WRC S9, 1 minute and 50 seconds behind Jeffrey Panton, despite a challenging weekend.
