Walsh heads successful Barbados connections in busy UK weekend

British crew Tom Preston and Carl Williamson, who won Group A and finished ninth overall in Sol Rally Barbados 2018, are the first confirmed entry for the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) new FIA R5 category as the Club prepares for this year’s 30th running of its premier event. He will drive the Hippo Motor Group Skoda Fabia R5 in which he lies seventh in the British Rally Championship after last Saturday’s (February 16) opening round, the Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally in North Wales.

Mallalieu edges ahead in Caribbean Junior Karting series

Reigning Barbados 125cc Champion Adam Mallalieu has edged into a narrow lead in the inaugural Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT) after rounds three and four at Bushy Park Barbados over the weekend (February 2/3). Leader after the first two rounds, Calem Maloney maintained his advantage on Saturday, with two race wins, but Mallalieu won three of Sunday’s four races to move into a two-point lead – 300 to 298 - ahead of the final two rounds next month.

Dates confirmed for upcoming Rally Club events

Sol Rally Barbados regular Paul Rees has confirmed his participation in this year’s 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event fresh from his most successful season yet in UK rallying. Having won two regional championships outright, he and co-driver Paul Briggs celebrated the first of those last Saturday (January 26) at the East Midlands Association of Motor Clubs (EMAMC) Annual Awards Dinner, close to their home town of Mansfield.

FIA Trainer cites “great future for Caribbean motor sport”

Ahead of rounds three and four of the Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT) at Bushy Park Barbados this weekend (February 2/3), the 14 young regional contenders have earned high praise from Dubai Grand Prix Clerk of the Course Ronan Morgan. After heading the team of FIA-accredited Regional Training Providers (RTP) who tutored the youngsters last month, he said: “they promise a great future for Caribbean motor sport.”

Barbadian racers Calem Maloney and Adam Mallalieu have emerged as the early front-runners in the inaugural Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT) after the first two rounds at Bushy Park Barbados over the weekend (January 12/13). They won seven of the eight races between them, finishing lower than third only once, in an action-packed curtain-raiser to the region’s first-ever structured search for future a motorsport star.

Barbados front-runners keep busy on UK events

Rallying friends Niall Inglis and John Macleod from the Isle of Skye off the north-west coast of Scotland will finally make a long-discussed trip this year to compete in Sol Rally Barbados 2019, the 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event. And they have their work cut out, with one fresh build and one bare-shell rebuild to complete before they make the 1,400-mile round trip to the UK’s south coast at the end of April to deliver their rally cars to Dover to start the voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.

Florida prize for 2019 Caribbean Junior Karting Champion

Fifteen young racers from Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica will face off at Bushy Park Barbados this weekend (January 12/13), when the 2018 Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT) gets underway, with admission free for spectators on both days. Not only will the youngsters be fighting for the honour of becoming the inaugural regional Champion, but also for the Grand Prize of an entry in the Sunshine State Karting Challenge (SSKC) in Florida.

World-class team heads in for BMF motor sport training

Three experienced motorsport professionals, led by Dubai Grand Prix Clerk of the Course Ronan Morgan, will conduct a two-day programme of training at Bushy Park Barbados on Thursday and Friday, January 10/11, ahead of the opening round of the Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT). Morgan’s Deputy Clerk Gordon Mellis, a kart racing expert, and former F1 driver Tommy Byrne complete the team of FIA-accredited Regional Training Providers (RTP), who will work with the karters registered for the new series, along with a number of the island’s volunteer officials and marshals.

Panton claims back-to-back Champion Driver titles

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has today (December 20) confirmed its list of Champions for the recently-completed 2018 season, along with the leading points-scorers across all disciplines, whose achievements will be celebrated at the Annual Prizegiving in the New Year. More than 170 local competitors participated in events organised by the BRC, with a further 80-plus from the wider Caribbean and further afield on the entry lists for the Club’s blue riband event, Sol Rally Barbados 2018, and Flow King of the Hill.
