Preparations are in full swing for the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Summer Nights Tarmac Stages on Saturday, August 11, which brings to an end the two-month break in the Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships . . . and every point counts for Championship contenders, as the season approaches its climax.

Leslie Alleyne claimed a record-equalling fifth victory in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) longest-standing event, when he won the Sol Go Further 55th Anniversary June Safari at the weekend (June 23/24). Meanwhile, his Navigator in the Simpson Motors Isuzu D-Max, Chris O’Neal, added the 69th name to the roll of honour of the region’s oldest motor sport event with a continuous history.

With the dust barely settled after the record-breaking success of last weekend’s Sol Rally Barbados 2012, the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) blue riband event, preparations are in high gear for the 55th Anniversary June Safari. Taking the Club right back to its roots in navigational rallying, the event runs off over the weekend of June 23/24.   The successful running of the first June Rally on June 16, 1957 was the catalyst to the founding of the BRC, and it remains the oldest-established motor sport event in the region with a continuous history.
