CHEFETTE TO SPONSOR NEW MARSHAL INCENTIVE

Closed-road successes for Sol Rally Barbados Escorts

Chefette Restaurants is to sponsor the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) innovative Marshal Exchange Incentive Programme, organised in partnership with last Sunday’s (September 8) Rali Bae Ceredigion, the first closed-road stage rally in Wales. Three Bajan marshals will travel to the 2020 edition of the Welsh event, their return flights funded by Chefette, a long-term supporter of the island’s motor sport volunteers, while marshals from Rali Bae Ceredigion will attend Sol Rally Barbados 2020.

ZANE MALONEY ANNOUNCED AS BRDC RISING STAR

Barbadian driver Zane Maloney has been selected as the latest addition to the British Racing Drivers Club’s (BRDC) Rising Star programme, and the first in the Club’s history from the Caribbean.

Zane, 15, has broken records in his debut car racing season with seven consecutive race wins in British Formula 4 for team Carlin, and currently stands 37 points clear as championship leader.

By invitation of the BRDC, Zane joins the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Daniel Ricciardo in the Rising Star scheme’s storied history in wearing the traditional ‘blue roundel’ logo.

Gregg, Esuf and Walcott win big at Williams International

Jamaica’s Kyle Gregg, along with local drivers Suleman Esuf and Andre Walcott – all former Champion Drivers - were among the big winners at last weekend’s (August 31/September 1) Williams Industries International Race Meet at Bushy Park Barbados.

Zane Maloney’s local car race debut at Williams International

Former Barbados Karting Association (BKA) Champion Zane Maloney, who currently leads the high-profile single-seater F4 British Championship, will make his home circuit car racing debut at this weekend’s (August 31/September 1) Williams Industries International Race Meet. With preparations under way in workshops across the island, and entries on the 17-race programme approaching a total of 80, testing was in full swing at Bushy Park Barbados today (Friday), with Zane getting valuable seat time in father Sean’s Radical SR3 RS and uncle Stuart’s Citroen C2.

The Williams Industries International Race Meet at Bushy Park Barbados (August 31/September 1) promises patrons a weekend to remember, with something for all the family. In addition to an action-packed 19-race programme organised by Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI), the grounds of the St Philip facility will be alive with other attractions including a Kidz Zone, the Cultural Village and a lunchtime drifting demonstration.

SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2020 DATES ANNOUNCED

Marshal exchange scheme agreed with ground-breaking Welsh event

Following this year’s successful 30th running of its premier event, which attracted more than 40 overseas entries for the fifth year in a row, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) has announced the provisional dates for Sol Rally Barbados 2020. Subject to final ratification by the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF), Sol RB20 will run from Friday to Sunday, May 29 to 31, with The Rally Show (May 23) and Flow King of the Hill (May 24) the previous weekend.

RALLY CLUB RULE CHANGE ALLOWS 2016 WORLD CARS

Decision welcomed by overseas competitors

World Rally Cars built before the end of 2016 will now be eligible for Barbados Rally Club (BRC) events, following an overwhelming vote by the membership in favour of an amendment to the Club’s 2019 to 2021 Vehicle Regulations. Last evening’s (Tuesday) well-attended EGM at the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association (BCTSA) Clubhouse at Searles, Christ Church, also approved changes to the rules for Modified 4, minimum weights across all classes and some rim widths.

SKEETE AND MAYHEW BRING SOL RB TROPHY HOME

Dramatic weekend for 30th running of Club’s premier event.

On their debut in the event’s World Rally Car class, Dane Skeete and Tyler Mayhew won Sol Rally Barbados 2019, the 30th running of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event; after a weekend of high drama and a rarely-seen level of attrition among the front-runners, their margin of victory in the Sol/CO Williams Sand & Lime/Automotive Art Subaru Impreza WRC S12B was just over one minute.
