Paul Nagle joins organising team for BCIC RB24

Ireland’s most successful co-driver Paul Nagle, who twice won Rally Barbados with Kris Meeke, returns to the event this year as the International Safety Delegate. Since retiring in 2022, Nagle has taken a keen interest in the organisational aspects of the sport and has recently been appointed as the FIA Sporting Delegate and Observer for 10 of the 14 rounds of this year’s European Rally Trophy.

First Citizens reaffirms King of the Hill sponsorship

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) confirmed today (Friday) that the First Citizens Group will be title sponsor of King of the Hill (KotH) for the third year. The event, which will run on Sunday, May 26, uses a modified version of last year’s stage in the south-east corner of the island and also marks the launch of the Rally Experience, which will be sited at Society Plantation in St John.

Read digs deep to beat Gregg in Rally2 thriller

Josh Read won the second round of the 2024 Barbados Rally2 Championship sponsored by CIBC Caribbean on Sunday (April 28), holding off a determined late charge by first round winner Kyle Gregg of Jamaica to win by just 1.96 seconds. Britain’s Rob Swann finished third, while championship newcomer Adam Mallalieu impressed the huge turn-out of spectators – and his fellow-drivers – with his raw pace.

Stuart Maloney lays down marker for BCIC RB24

Stuart Maloney started his preparations for BCIC Rally Barbados (May 31-June 2) in determined fashion with victory on Sunday’s (April 28) BRC Shakedown Stages. Island fans turned out in their numbers for the first closed-road rally of the season, enjoying some first-class action in the second of two back-to-back rounds of the Barbados Rally Club Driver’s & Class Championships, although a high attrition rate left only 37 official finishers from the 61 starters.

More than 60 crews for BRC Shakedown Stages

Sunday’s (April 28) BRC Shakedown Stages has attracted an entry of more than 60 crews, a record number for the season's first closed-road event of the Barbados Rally Club Driver’s & Class Championships. With eight overseas drivers flying into the island for some seat time on local roads ahead of BCIC Rally Barbados and 12 cars entered in the FIA R5 class – also a record for a National event – a thrilling day is in prospect.

Karting Champion joins record Rally2 field

Former Caribbean Junior Karting Champion Adam Mallalieu this weekend becomes the youngest driver to compete in the 2024 Barbados Rally2 Championship sponsored by CIBC Caribbean. Added to a number of returning drivers, his participation in Sunday’s (April 28) Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Shakedown Stages brings to 12 the entries in the FIA R5 class, a record number outside Rally Barbados.

BCIC is the new title sponsor of Rally Barbados

British Caribbean Insurance Company (BCIC) is the new title sponsor of Rally Barbados, which this year runs from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2. In a deal agreed with the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) last week, the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International becomes BCIC Rally Barbados for the next three years.
