Skeete heads entry for Canefield speed event

Reigning Barbados Rally Club (BRC) champion Roger Skeete heads an impressive 32-car entry for Sunday's (April 28) third round of the 2002 Autozone/LAW Motors Championship, at Canefield.
Despite some damage suffered by his Texaco/McEnearny/Pirelli Ford Escort at the Vaucluse Raceway last Sunday, Skeete will face Paul Bourne in the Banks/Texaco/Williams Industries Subaru Impreza WRC and Richard Roett (Michelin/Massco/Esso/Roett's Garage Toyota Celica GT4) for honours in Group Modified 9.
Trevor Manning contests his first BRC event of the season in his Quaker State Mitsubishi Evo 5, facing Roger Hill (Esso Nassco Toyota Celica GT4) in Group M8, while a superb Group N battle is promised between Mitsubishi Evo VI drivers Barry Gale, Harold Morley and Geoff Noel, the on-form Brian Gill in his Subaru Impreza and Peter Thompson's Proton Wira.
In the absence of points-leader St Elmo Cumberbatch, the Modified Open class is, indeed, wide open; his son Sammy (Ford Escort) will face strong competition from Cliff Roett's Toyota Starlet and Nathan Naime, appearing for the first time this season in his Peugeot 306.
Modified 7 leader Greg Cozier (Carib Ford Escort RS2000) faces Reggie Gill (Opel Manta) and John Corbin (Toyota Corolla), while Roger Mayers steps back to Modified 6, his Ford Escort WRC not yet repaired after its accident last month. Points leader of this group Neil Barnard is absent, his Opel Corsa being refettled in readiness for the Texaco Havoline International Stages Rally next month, while Mikey Hassell's very quick Toyota Starlet has been bought this week by Neil Armstrong, who makes his debut in the car this weekend.
Wayne Manning's new Peugeot 205XS leads Modified Class 5, but faces a tought challenge from, Roger Marshall, while Adrian Linton (Vauxhall Astra) and Nicholas Gill appear to defend their leads in the production classes.
