FINAL COUNTDOWN TO SOL RALLY BARBADOS IS ON!

The final countdown to Sol Rally Barbados 2017 is under way, with just 14 days to go before the first major event, the all-new Simpson Motors Rally Show on Saturday, May 27. Flow King of the Hill will follow on Sunday, with the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International, Sol RB17, running from Friday to Sunday, June 2-4. Nearly all 44 overseas cars on the provisional entry list are now in the island, ready to face the 48 local crews.

Jenson Button to headline Barbados Festival of Speed 2017

Former Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button will headline the second Barbados Festival of Speed, which is today (May 12) confirmed for Saturday, October 14, at Bushy Park Barbados. The one-day event will run from day into night, promising an epic new experience for spectators, thanks to the full-arena lighting currently being installed at the St Philip facility.

Sol Rally Barbados 2017 (June 2-4), which will cover the longest route since 2004, could prove to be the toughest in the 28-year history of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) blue riband event, according to the organisers. From Friday night’s Ceremonial Start at Sol Warrens to Sunday’s final timed stage at Bushy Park Barbados, the pressure will be relentless for the 93 crews confirmed on the provisional entry list at today’s (Wednesday) Media Briefing at the Accra Beach Hotel & Spa in Rockley.

Record-breaking start for third Suzuki Challenge Series

The third Suzuki Challenge Series got off to a record-breaking start at Bushy Park Barbados at the Glassesco John ‘Tiny’ Harrison Memorial Race Meet, organised by Bushy Park Motor Sport Inc (BPMSI) over the weekend (May 6/7). Early leader of the SR3 Cup, reigning Champion Suleman Esuf, set new Qualifying and Race Lap Records  - and he’d lapped even faster in Practice - while Josh Read has edged ahead in the Swift Cup, the first time he has led the post-event standings.

Fan favourite Jonathan Still heads back to the stages!

British and European Rallycross Championship front-runner Andy Scott will join fellow Rx race-winner Kevin Procter on the entry list for Sol Rally Barbados 2017, as Procter makes his 12th appearance. Confirmation of the 2009 Fuchs Lubricants Rallycross Open Champion’s participation brings to a record eight the number of Scottish drivers travelling to compete in the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International.

Alleyne & O’Neal first winners of Audley Croney Memorial Trophy

Four-time Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Champions Leslie Alleyne and Chris O'Neal (Simpson Motors/Shell Spirax/Shell Rimula/Maxxis Isuz D-Max) returned to Winner’s Row on Saturday (April 29) with victory in the Chefette April Safari, becoming the first recipients of the Audley Croney Memorial Trophy.

Glassesco to sponsor ‘Tiny’ Harrison Memorial Race Meet

Glassesco was today (Thursday) confirmed as sponsor of this weekend’s (May 6/7) John ‘Tiny’ Harrison Memorical Race Meet at Bushy Park Barbados. For the second time this year, Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI) and the Barbados Association of Dragsters & Drifters (BADD) will share the programme, while the Suzuki Challenge Series will also kick off its third season.

Four Champions ready for third Suzuki Challenge Series

All four Suzuki Challenge Series Overall Champions will line up on the grid when the third series gets under way at the Glassesco John ‘Tiny’ Harrison Memorial Race Meet at Bushy Park Barbados this weekend (May 6/7). Inaugural Champions Sean Maloney (SR3 Cup) and Trinidad & Tobago’s Ryan Peyrau (Swift Cup) will face Ryan Wood and Sol Esuf respectively, who clinched the 2016/17 titles at the St Philip facility in January.

FORMER NZ CHAMPION FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS

Two-car Peugeot entry from Marshall Motorsport

Former New Zealand Junior Rally Champion Craig Marshall will make his Sol Rally Barbados debut this year, following in the wheel-tracks of his father, Kiwi rallying legend Mike Marshall, and brother Nick, who have each made the 28,000-kilometre round trip over the past couple of years. He will be joined by cousin David Proud in a two-car entry with a 13-strong family group travelling to support them . . . and to celebrate ‘Proudy’s birthday, which falls during the trip.
