SHAKE–UP FOR 2017 RALLY CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Driver’s and Class Championship will have a new look for its 60th Anniversary year in 2017, with a later start to the season and a different spread of events across the calendar. Further changes to the individual format of events and the points-scoring system remain a work in progress, following discussions during a wide-ranging Members Meeting last evening (January 17) at the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association (BCTSA) Clubhouse, Searles, Christ Church.

Radical International marks 20th Anniversary for UK firm

The first overseas entries for the second edition of Radical International (January 28/29) have completed their 10-day trans-Atlantic voyage from the UK to the Caribbean, which started at Radical Sportscars headquarters in the East Midlands city of Peterborough. Organised by Bushy Park Motor Sport Inc (BPMSI), Radical International this year coincides with the British race and road car manufacturer’s 20th Anniversary and will launch the 2017 season at Bushy Park Barbados.

The Sol Rally Barbados stand at Europe's largest motor sport show, Autosport International (ASI), has been a hive of activity over the past four days (January 12-15). Competitors past, present and future have been showing their support for the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International, while a host of spectators registered with tour specialists Rally Travel, hoping to win an Official Spectator Package to Sol RB17.

Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc celebrates its 2016 Champions

Members of Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI) gathered in the Cafeteria at Bushy Park Barbados last evening (Saturday) to celebrate the Club’s 2016 Champions. Champion Driver and Champion Rider respectively, Geoff Ullyett and Brook Miller, emerged victorious from the nearly 90 competitors on two and four wheels who scored points in BPMSI-administered Championships, many of whom headed to St Philip to join in the celebrations.

Procter thwarted chasing sixth straight Croft win

Irish motor sport enthusiast Kevin Flanagan will participate in Sol Rally Barbados 2017 (June 2-4), just two years after he was first introduced to the island by winning a Prize Trip in a draw for volunteer marshals on the Circuit of Ireland. And next Thursday (January 12), Flanagan will be among the first visitors to the Sol RB17 stand at Autosport International (ASI) in the UK, where the event is exhibiting for the first time.

International Rally Drivers Club supports Sol RB17

The Barbados Rally Club (BRC) will kick off a new campaign to attract more overseas spectators to its premier event, Sol Rally Barbados, at Europe's largest motor sport show, Autosport International (ASI). Supported by the island’s Tourism Development Corporation (TDC), the Club has partnered with tour specialists Rally Travel to offer Official Spectator Packages for 2017, which will be launched at ASI (January 12-15), where Sol RB will exhibit for the first time.

Annual Prizegiving set for January

Following the conclusion of the competition season last month, just before the island’s 50th Anniversary of Independence celebrations moved into high gear, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) today confirms its list of Champions for 2016, along with the leading points-scorers across all disciplines. With such a busy calendar during Independence and the Festive Season, the Annual Prizegiving will be held in January 2017, moved from its customary November date.

A family trip to the Caribbean last year to support his friend Rob Swann’s Sol Rally Barbados campaign coincided with Brit Richard Seal’s own search for his first rally car. So impressed was he with the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event that he will return to compete in Sol RB17 in his Ford Escort MkI, one of a growing number of first-time participants.

Route-setters praised for “fantastic” Nassco November Safari

Triple Champions Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal (Simpson Motors/Shell Spirax/Shell Rimula/Maxxis Isuzu D-Max) made certain of winning an unprecedented fourth Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship with victory on last Sunday’s (November 13) Nassco November Safari. The fourth and final round of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) off-road navigational championship started and finished at the Vaucluse Raceway in St Thomas, where spectators turned out in their numbers to enjoy the action.

Down to the wire for the MudDogs on Sunday

Competitors in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship have arrived at the last chance saloon. The 2016 title chase will go down to the wire at Sunday’s (November 13) fourth and final round, the Nassco November Safari, with a spread of just six points across the four leading crews, once dropped scores are taken into account.
