Reigning Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Champion Driver, Jamaica’s Jeff Panton, launches his title defence on Sunday (April 22), seeded at number one for the Carter’s Pit-Stop Stages. The 40-car running order confirmed at last night’s (Thursday) Briefing Meeting at the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association (BCTSA) Clubhouse, Searles, Christ Church, includes eight regional and international crews as competitors ramp up their preparations for Sol Rally Barbados 2018.

Carter’s Pit-Stop Stages opens 2018 BRC season

Former Rallycross Champion Andy Scott confirmed today (April 18) that he will drive a newly-acquired Ford Fiesta R5 in Sol Rally Barbados 2018, having had such “a great experience” on his debut last year in a rented Ford Escort MkII. An excited Scott landed in the island yesterday (Tuesday) from his home in Dumfries, Scotland, just 72 hours after the Fiesta arrived at the Bridgetown Port, and will drive the car in anger for the first time in Sunday’s (April 22) Carter’s Pit Stop Stages.

Racegoers to remember John ‘Tiny’ Harrison next month

A legend of island motor sport will be remembered by racegoers on Sunday, May 6, when Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI) stages the John ‘Tiny’ Harrison Memorial Race Meet at the St Philip facility. The race programme will feature the second of four rounds of BPMSI’s 2018 Championship, which is currently being led by former bike racer Devan McCartney in his Honda CRX.

Four-time winner of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) blue riband event, Jamaica’s Jeff Panton today (April 12) confirmed his participation in Sol Rally Barbados 2018, after a successful return to island competition last weekend. The Club’s 2017 Champion Driver is looking forward to “another amazing Rally Barbados” and taking on whatever the opposition can offer, following his hat-trick of victories since 2015.

Saturday night Driver Challenge to test crews

Crews are making final preparations for round two of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2018 Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship, the April Safari this Saturday (April 14). As the Driver Challenges, which count towards the Shelbury Construction Trophy, grow in importance in the calculation of results, crews will need to be on their toes, with a night-time challenge included.

Former New Zealand Junior Rally Champion Craig Marshall, his brother Nick and their cousin David Proud spearhead the three-car Window Factory Marshall Motorsport team heading for Sol Rally Barbados 2018. With their two familiar Peugeots and a new-build Group B Ford Fiesta, the trio represent the strongest entry yet to make the 28,000-kilometre round trip from the other side of the world.

Faulkner and Foy to miss celebration outing

Following a successful shakedown on home ground last weekend, Scotland’s Robin Hamilton announced today (March 30) that he will contest Sol Rally Barbados 2018 in his Gleaner Fuels MG Metro 6R4, the first appearance in the island’s premier event of one of the iconic 1980s Group B cars for nearly 20 years. Confirmation that Ireland’s Peter Gallagher will also return with a recently-acquired Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI brings the overseas entry to 25.

McCartney wins big as BPMSI opens 2018 season

Devan McCartney was the big winner as Bushy Park Motor Sports Inc (BPMSI) launched its 2018 Championship season last Sunday (March 25). Although entries were lower than anticipated, the races produced some quality action, with track conditions changing throughout the afternoon. Driving his familiar orange Zephirins Bakery/C & A Autobody Repair Honda CRX, former bike racer McCartney won Group 1 Class 2 in all three races, taking an early lead in the BPMSI Champion Driver title chase . . . just as he did at last year’s opening round.

The total of overseas entries confirmed for Sol Rally Barbados 2018 has moved into the twenties, with the announcement today (March 26) of three crews from the Turks & Caicos Motoring Club and the return of an American father and son duo, who made their Caribbean debut last year. Momentum is building for the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event, with further announcements planned in the coming weeks ahead of the close of entries on April 27.

As the Barbados Rally Cub (BRC), which celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2017, heads in to a new decade, measures are in place which the management believes will support the Club’s sustained growth. This was the message from Chairman Mark Hamilton as he addressed last night’s (Thursday) Annual General Meeting at the Barbados Clay Target Shooting Association (BCTSA) Clubhouse at Searles, Christ Church.
