TWELVE STAGES FOR BRC WINTER RALLY SUNDAY

The 2009 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships reach their conclusion on Sunday (October 25) with the BRC Winter Rally . . . and the island’s fans are expected to turn out in their numbers for the 12-stage event, their last chance this season to see their heroes in action on home soil.

BOURNE’S FIRST GRAVEL WIN IN FOCUS

Paul Bourne and Stuart Maloney won the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Autumn Gravel Stages in the Banks/LIME/Virgin Atlantic Ford Focus WRC07 on Sunday (October 18), moving one step closer to claiming the 2009 Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s Championship; in his first outing on the loose with the ex-works Focus, Bourne was fastest on all eight stages, building his advantage to nearly 30 seconds by close of play.

Many an internet forum argument will be settled – and a few more started, no doubt - when the island’s four leading car and driver combinations go head-to-head on Sunday (October 18) in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Autumn Gravel Stages, penultimate round of the Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s and Class Championships.

AUTUMN GRAVEL STAGES TO RUN OFF SUNDAY

As crews prepare man and machine for the penultimate round of the 2009 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships – the BRC Autumn Gravel Stages runs off this Sunday (October 18) – many also have a weather eye on the year-end rewards on offer for success in the two championships.

HIGH-PRESSURE END TO RALLY CLUB SEASON

Faced with four points-scoring chances in five weekends, competitors in the 2009 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships are heading for a high-pressure end to the season. With eight of the 12 rounds run, the final reckoning is just over the horizon, with dropped scores yet to play a part in what has proved to be one of the Club’s most successful seasons, with more than 70 drivers scoring Championship points.

WARREN AND WHITE TAKE MUD DOGS LEAD

With their third top three finish of the season, Robert Warren and Darrin White have moved into the lead of the Navigator and Driver standings in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Mud Dogs Safari Championship. Third in March, the winners in June, they finished second in last Sunday’s (September 13) Regional Fire & Security September Safari to open up a 10-point advantage.

MUD DOGS RETURN TO BATTLE FOR RFS SAFARI

After a three-month break since the June Safari, competitors in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Mud Dogs Safari Championship rejoin battle this Sunday (September 13) in the Regional Fire & Security September Safari. Round three of the four-round championship is slated to start at 8:01am from Automotive Art, Welches . . . and it will start in fine style, too, with a driver challenge on the adjacent land.

FAMILY FORTUNES FOR SKEETE FATHER AND SON

Roger Skeete had good cause to celebrate on Saturday evening (July 25), when the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) staged its Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint; not only was he overall and Modified 8-WRC winner in a gripping seventh round of the Virgin Atlantic BRC Driver’s and Class Championships, but son Dane also prevailed in Production 2.

CAPACITY ENTRY FOR TARMAC SPRINT

Spectators who make their way to the north of the island on Saturday evening (July 25) will enjoy a motor sport treat at the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint. The capacity entry further reaffirms the support that motor sport is currently enjoying, despite the challenging economic climate . . . and five drivers on the list have not yet joined the more than 70 who have already scored points this season.

SUMMER NIGHTS TARMAC SPRINT SATURDAY

Competitors will come under starters’ orders for the second half of the 2009 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships this weekend, when they gather for the BRC Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint on Saturday evening (July 25).
After a concentrated month of competition in May, during which the Automotive Art Shakedown Stages, Shell V-Power King of the Hill and Sol Rally Barbados 2009 offered them four points-scoring opportunities in the space of five weekends, competitors have been enjoying a welcome mid-season break.
