LAST CHANCE SALOON FOR RALLY CLUB CONTENDERS

Virgin Atlantic Championship to be settled on Sunday The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships will be decided on Sunday (October 13) at the double-header BRC Winter Gravel Sprint at the popular Black Bess course in St Peter.   Conor Roach and Rhett Watson are tied on 120 points at the top of the table after seven rounds although, once each driver’s lowest score is dropped – 13 and 15 respectively from Scotiabank King of the Hill – Roach edges ahead by just a couple of points.

ROB SWANN’S IN FOR SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2014

Britain’s Rob Swann was first in line when entries for Sol Rally Barbados 2014, the Caribbean's biggest annual motor sport international, opened on the official web site - www.rallybarbados.net – on Tuesday (October 1). Returning for his seventh visit, Swann steps back up to WRC-1 with his recently-acquired ex-works Subaru Impreza WRC S11, backed by Waves Hotel and Spa Barbados and Cygnet Plant Ltd.   At Sol RB14, the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) will celebrate the 25th running of its blue riband event.

ROACH AND WATSON LEAD VIRGIN ATLANTIC BATTLE

After each scored a class win in last month’s BRC Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint (August 17), Conor Roach and Rhett Watson remain at the head of the field in the hunt for the Champion Driver title in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Championship; they are tied on 120 points at the top of the table after seven rounds.

CRONEYS WIN REDLINEFUELS.COM SEPTEMBER SAFARI

Audley Croney and son Jeremy won last Sunday’s (September 15) Redlinefuels.com September Safari, setting the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship up for a gripping conclusion. With dropped scores taken into account, Audley’s first victory since returning to competition in 2005 puts them on equal points with Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal, with one round to go.   The win also confirms the Croneys’ place among the island’s top navigational crews; Audley, who had rallied in the 1970s, initially returned with Geoffrey Goddard as Navigator.

The Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship is heading for an exciting conclusion, with points close in the battles for both the Champion Navigator and Champion Driver titles. SENIOR MOTOR SPORT VOLUNTEERS TRAIN IN THE UK

Four senior motor sport volunteers from Barbados are flying north this month for training courses organised by the UK’s governing body, the Motor Sports Association (MSA). While designed to increase their personal knowledge about the management of the island’s most popular spectator sport, the courses will also enable them to train officials and competitors in the future.

SOL RALLY BARBADOS 2014 DATES ANNOUNCED

Sol Rally Barbados reaches an important milestone in 2014, when the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) celebrates the 25th running of its blue riband event. Subject to final ratification by the island’s governing body, the Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF), Sol RB14 will run on Saturday and Sunday, May 31/June 1, with Scrutineering and Scotiabank King of the Hill the previous weekend, May 24/25.   On-line entries for the Caribbean's biggest annual motor sport international will open on the official web site - www.rallybarbados.net – on October 1.

ARMSTRONG WINS SUMMER NIGHTS TARMAC SPRINT

With changeable weather conditions making life tough for the 40-strong field, Neil Armstrong (Monster/Sol/Chefette/Digicel/Virgin Atlantic/Gunk/Hankook Tyres/Redline Fuels/Simpson Finance/Simpson Motors Suzuki SX4 WRC) triumphed in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint on Saturday evening (August 17).   The Hangman’s Hill to Lion Castle stage offered drivers a different challenge on each of the four runs – dry for practice, wet for the first official run, damp for the second, almost completely dry for the final.

An impressive 40 entries have been received for tomorrow’s (Saturday, August 17) Summer Nights Tarmac Sprint, including all the leading challengers in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Virgin Atlantic Driver’s and Class Championships.
