All to play for in Radical Caribbean SR3 Cup final in Guyana

Reigning Champion Stuart Maloney of Barbados leads Jamaica’s William Myers by a single point ahead of the final round of the 2019 Radical Caribbean SR3 Cup at South Dakota in Guyana next month (November 16/17). Mark Maloney is 10 points behind Myers, with Kristian Boodoosingh (Trinidad & Tobago) and Sean Maloney also within 35 points of the leader, so the title fight is wide open with a maximum score of 75 points possible across the last three races.

Alleyne and O’Neal add to MudDogs Championship titles

Ben Norris and Kirk Watkins claimed their second victory of the 2019 Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship in last Sunday’s (October 20) final round, the Nassco October Safari, handing the island’s Toyota dealer a ‘home’ victory in their Land Cruiser. They finish the season second in the Driver and Navigator standings, just two points adrift of multiple Champions Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal, who were the route-setters last weekend.

There’s all to play in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Driver’s and Class Championships when competitors gather for the season’s finale, the high-scoring HO2 Construction Winter Rally on Sunday, October 27. The Champion Driver, 4wd and 2wd titles are yet to be resolved, while just a handful of points separate the front-runners in SuperModified 2, Modified 3 and M2, so a day of hard-fought competition is on the cards.

Crews contesting the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) 2019 Chefette MudDogs Safari Championship face their final points-scoring challenge of the season on Sunday (October 20), the Nassco October Safari, sponsored by the island’s Toyota dealer for the 12th consecutive year. With a route passing through six parishes and three Driver Challenges along the way, one through a St Philip swamp, it promises to be a fitting end to the campaign.

Plaudits flood in for British F4 Champion Zane Maloney

Describing Zane Maloney’s British F4 Championship win as “right up there with the very best” of his team’s triumphs, Trevor Carlin was one of many in the motor sport world on both sides of the Atlantic lauding the Bajan teenager after last weekend’s thrilling finale on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) President Andrew Mallalieu said: “The entire motorsport community joins together under the BMF to congratulate Zane on his significant achievement.”

The final round of the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) Driver’s and Class Championships, the Winter Rally on October a27, will be sponsored by the Turks & Caicos Islands-based business HO2 Construction. With a return to a stage venue not used in 10 or more years and the customary year-end enhanced points system – 28 points for a class win, compared with the usual 20 – the season’s final event looks set to be a thriller.

British F4 driver Zane Maloney sealed the British F4 Championship title in convincing fashion with two victories at Brands Hatch Circuit this weekend, bringing his season tally to a record-matching 10 wins in total, continuing Carlin Racing’s clean sweep of the series since 2015.

Barbados praised for “advanced motor sport environment”

Britain’s Tom Preston is the first overseas driver to take advantage of the relaxation of the age cap for World Rally Cars entering Barbados Rally Club (BRC) events. Although disappointed at missing out on a second victory in the Wales Rally GB National, which he led for five of the eight stages last weekend (October 4/5), he entered his Hippo Motor Group Ford Fiesta WRC on-line for Sol Rally Barbados 2020 on Monday morning.

Barbados praised for “advanced motor sport environment”

The Barbados Motoring Federation (BMF) earned praise for the island’s “very advanced motor sport environment” during a Regional Train the Trainers Course organised by world governing body, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in Panama City last month. More than 30 participants from 19 countries attended the two-day course (September 21/22), which focussed specifically on rally and hillclimb events and was presented by Regional Training Provider OMDAI FIA Mexico.
